Miss Minnie Quertermous was visiting with friends and rela tives the latter part of the week. She departed for her home at Ellsworth, Kansas, Sunday even ing. Dr. H. C. Homer, W. S. Moore and two other gentlemen from Arapahoe, whose names we did not learn, but we presume they were land buyers, were in town Monday. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. McCrumb, left for Canon City Colorado last Sunday, where they go to visit their daughter, find R. 8., for a few weeks. The Times predicts for Me a grand good time, for Me is sure to have it if any one does. V/m. Henderson, of Kit Car son, was in town Saturday, and with the assistance of Ivan Groff, inspected two car loads of cattle that were to be shippedito the K. C. market The shippers were Messrs. Thero, C. A. Parker and J. S. Baber. Mrs. Windsor has been sojourning in the Moun tains for the last two months, and was on her way back, home, and concluded to make Mrs. Terrill and family a short visit. Call again ladies. C. Nel son. Chas. Norman. Ja3. Cahill and several others of our citi zens attended the Good Roads meeting, at Colo. Springs last week they report as having had a good time on their journey. They also report as a very likely circumstance that we will get the ood Road Committee to report in favor of the Pikes Peak Trail road, or formerly known as the Golden Belt cut off road. They promised to do all in thier power for this end of the road. Miss Bernice Plessinger, the “Hello girl” at the switch board here, will resign her position as <uch the last of this week. Miss Plessinger has only held that position for the last month but she has shown herself to be one ot the best operators at the board that has served in that capacity for some time. She has been kind and obliging to everyone, and the Cheyenne County Tele phone company will lose one of the best operators they have ever had. Miss Plessinger will teach school this winter and we know that she will make a suc cess of it from the way she has done her duty in the telephone office. PROSPECT HILL. Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Calvert and children of First View, spent last Saturday with home folks at Prospect Hill. Rev. H. H. Gane and wife, of Arapahoe took dinner at Prospect Hill Wednesday. J. S. Baber and Ike Jones are on the road again buying up cat tle of the fanners. Mrs. Geo. Walker of Arapahoe spent a part of an afternoon with Mrs. J. A. Jenkins last week. Carl Driscol, of the Givens neighborhood, has been with the road surveying corps for a fort night. Next Sunday Rev. H. H. Gane of Arapahoe will preach at the Mayfield school house, at 3 p. m. Everybody come. Mrs. Scott, wife of Rev. D. M. Scott, of Cheyenne Wells, and her son, Dwight, were guests for dinner at Prospect Hill recently. Warner Givens from northwest of the Hill, has suspended his threshing and well drilling oper ations for this week, and is run ning his corn harvester at home. Mr. Elmer Richards, of Chic ago. visited hi? uncle Mr. Calvin Raven, last week. Painting and otherwise improving the premises of his mothers home just east of Mr. Ravens. The young man was here seven years ago and has the rare faculty of rememb ering those he met here at that time. Not only in material things is Arapahoe showing landable act ivity. The church peoble to gether with a well meaning pub lic have joined together and are building a manse for the use of the resident minister, Rev. H. H. Gane and family. Mr. Moore generously donated a half acre and the people are working with a willing mind and it is expected that in a few weeks the house will be finished and ready for occupancy. Mrs. J. A. Jenkins is rejoicing this week in having her mother, Mrs. Price, and her sister, Miss Charlotte Price, to visit her. They spent a couple of weeks at Ft. Collins visiting a number of relatives in that vicinity. The exhiderating mountain air of that region and the salubrious ozone of these planes country will put them back in Kansas City with a reserve of strength for a hole year of school work and enjoyable living. The failure of enough Masons to meet and do business at the called meeting last Friday even ing, bodes as a lack of interest not entirely wholesome. “Who can best work and best agree” should spur us to be found in our ~ PMimDRIUM Geo. Bales, editor of the Excelsior Springs Standard, kind ly favored the writer with a copy of his ably edited paper last week. Among the many items of pCiblic interest we noted that Cole Younger, the famous bandit of civil war times, had made a public profession of religion and had joined the Christian church at his home Lees Summit Mo. Although he has twenty-nine bullet holes in his body, ho keeps in vigerous health and is endeav oring to atone for the mistakes of his early life, by exemplary citizenship in his declining years. Did you ever hear John the Baptist preach—No, well we heard one of his sermons Sunday had you been there you would have been treated to. the same clarion gospel call. Rev. Scott chose one of the great Johns, sermons, and with commendable Christian fervo- used his voice and gestures to say as John the Baptist did in his inimical way “Behold the lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world.” Rev. Scott is nearing the end of his ministerial year and is wanting us all to under stand that he is a voice also of one crying in the wilderness, “Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.” Go and hear him next Sunday, it may ba his last.
