I hereby announce to the Demoor utic j voters of the Second Congressional District Unit I shall be a candidate for the nominatioh for Congress on the Democratic ticket subject to the result of the forthcoming primary. | Harry H. Seldomridge. I Secretary of State. To The Democracy of Colo. In response to requests recently made by a number of my friends. 1 take this opportunity of announcing my candidacy for the Democratic nom ination for the office of Secretary of State. I have resided in the state of Colorado for thirty-seven years, hav ing come to this Stats in 1H77, from my native State of Kentucky. From the time i cast my lirst vote' 1 have, been associated with the Democratic party, having spent thirteen years in uotive work in connection with the State Democratic Committee, as As sistant Secretary, i have always work ed for the benefit of the Democratic 1 party and for the benefit of the candi dates nominated by the party, and 1 have not heretofore culled upon the voters of tills State to vote for uie for any office. | For flic past live years I have liecn .. Deputy Secretary of State. In that i position I have naturally become fa miliar with the duties of the office to which I aspire. Ithink 1 can claim with some pride that L have been in strumental iu placing the office of the Secretary of State upon a thoroughly business like basis without attempting ito detract anything from the credit which belongs to the Secretary of Stutc, Mr. Dearer. I am sure lie will agree tliat I have devoted myself en tirely to this end during the time that i have been his Deputy. 1 have pro ceeded all tlie while upon the theory that this office should give prompt, ad equate and efficient service to the pub lic just us though it were u private en terprise seeking the good will of its patrons, and I have worked with this in view without u day's vacation dur ing the past five years. The present Secretary of State, Mr. I’enrce, while properly remaining neutral owing to the fact tiiat two of his subordinates are candidates, will testify to the cor rectness of what 1 have just said. If elected to the office I promise the people tlie continued businesslike ad ministration of the office that l have assisted in giving in tlie pust. This is primarily my platform. Insofar, how ever, as the duties of the ofliee relate to governmental mutters, i think it should ut all times uid the constituted authorities in the strict and impartial enforcement of the law of tlie State, and if elected pledge my support to tills end..
