Hoock arrived in Cheyenne Wells on Saturday of last week from Oregon, Mo., having with him a bunch of men who are look ing for a good place to make their future home. Right here we wish to say that no place on earth offers any more promising place for a home than Cheyenne county, we have the best of ac commodations, good schools, churches, lands, climate and—oh, well, whats the use trying to tell all if we did we would have no room left in the sheet to remind some of our delinquents that we could use a few of those “berries” now to a good advantage. A Beautiful Field of Wheat Just South of Cheyenne Wells Looking After Crops C. L. Tate, of Omaha, Nebr., was an arrival in our city the 'atter part of last week to look after his large real estate inter ests in this part of the county. Mr. Tate is one of the boys who has big wheat fields in this dist rict that he is interested in get ting “under cover” and from all indications is meeting with fine success. He also has interesting crops up at Juelsburg, Colo., and in Lodgepool, Nebr. Some Travel P. E. Brooke, whom we under ntand is the daddy of the U. P. highway, was in our city on Wed nesday evening of last week and met with some of the good roads dads of this place. Mr. Brooke stated at the meeting that a> but about 100 miles of the U. P highway had been plainly mark Will Make Change We learn this week that the U. P. highway railway crossing west of town will be changed now in a very short time to a point further west and that the highway will lead through Hill Crest instead of the present lo cation. This will certainly he a very pleasing change to the pub lic. As it is, when a train pulls into the railway yards and you happen to be on the road at this present crossing point you have got to stop and wait for the trains to move; another advant age in the move is that you get away from that low, narrow piece of rough road. B Fry received a new case thresher last week and started the threshing season at the Fred Wulp ranch west of Cheyenne Walls. Frank Swanson moved the big Holt to the D. K. Jones 980 acre wheat field south of hero last Sunday. He will ship the wheat from First View. Mrs. H. L. Paggs was called away las: week by the death of her sister, who left a husband and two little children, cue a ten day infant to mourn her loss.
