GOLDSWORTHY, PUBLISHER Published every Thursday in Cheyenne Wells. Cheyenne county Colorado, and entered at the poatofflce as second class mail matter. April 3.191- under the Act of March 3, 1879. ADVERTISING RATES MADE UPON AP PLICATION POR SAME ; Thursday, July 28, 1921 A. Welle, of Arapahoe, was a county seat caller on Saturday afternoon and while here made this office a business call. Mr. F. E. Koeing, who is now conducting men’s furnishing stores in Cheyenne Wells, Bur lington and Limon has in the past week added another store to his list to accomodate his trade. The new store has been opened at Stratton, Colo., with A. C. Anderson as manager. United States Marshal, S. J. Burris, recently seized the plant , of the Colorado Near Beer com pany at Pueblo. While they man ufactured new beer, it seems that it bore too strong a resemblance to the old kind to suit govern ment officials and the concern was taken over by a writ of mon ition and attachment A man at Florence, Colo., lost his jitney in the recent flood and high waters prevailing there. After the water went down, the old boat was found stranded on the river bank a hundred miles down stream. The owner simply took out the dead cow and sever al hogs that had floated down the stream with the car and drove the thing home as though nothing had ever happened. House Bill number 110 passed by the general assembly of the State of Colorado gave an ap propriation for the maintainance of a State Department of Safety, known as the Colorado Rangers, whose duties are to make arrests any where in the state of any person charged with violations of the law and order regardless of person or kind of violation either in country or city, and having a speed limit in this city something is liable to drop at any time. _ Cheyenne \\ ells as a business center, is a proven fact. Take a person who has been away from this city for a few years and let him step in here today, tomorrow or any other day and they will be greatly surprised to see the amount of business transacted in this city. Our little city is rep resented by almost every kind of a business and each one enjoys a nice patronage from different parts of the county as well as from near by towns from all directions. The reason is that our merchants handle and carry in stock a good clean line of goods and that is what the people want- value received. All teachers who expect to teach in the public schools of the state this fall wiil be required to taxe an oath of allegiance to the state and nation. This is in ac cordance with a law passed by the legislature at the last session, the purpose of which is to eliminate radicals and unpatriotic teachers from the ranks. The oath reads: I solemly swear (or affirm) that I will suppcrt the constitution of the United States of America, and the laws of the state of Colorado and of the United States, and will teach by precept and example; respect for the flag of the United States and of the state of Colorado, rever ence for law and order and un divided allegiance to the govern ment of our country, the Uuited States of America. The body of what is supposed to be that of a man was found last Thursday evening near the Fort Lyon headgate, by a force of men employed by G. A. Dahl gren on the Fort Lyon repair work at that point. There was absolutely nothing on the re mains by which they could be identified. There was no cloth ing and the body was so badly decomposed that the hands were missing. Undertaker King went out Friday morning and brought in the remains, interment taking place at once. It will probably never be known who the man was or from what point he came on that fateful night of June 3rd This is the second unidentified body found in this vicinity since the flood, and as time goes on there will probably bo more. —La Junta Tribune. Lamar bids fair to be honored as one of the stops of the aero planes of the Aerial Navigation and Engineering company, of Denver, which company is pic posing the establishment of an aerial mail route from Chicago to Denver via Kansas City and St. Louis. These landing places will be established every ten to fif teen miles along the route, and will be about four hundred feet long and three hundred feet wide. ‘‘The bunch of un'regenerated Gypsies who monopolized the tourist camping grounds here fc-r several days, were on Tuesday compelled to move on for the good of the town”. So said the News of last week. This same bunch was in town Monday and if Brakie would of stayed at home he would of been able to learn something from these ‘‘old janes” that would "make him much good luck”—another op portunity missed. The pui pose of this organiza tion is not to take the infurce ment of the law out of the hands of our ollicers, but to back them up and encourage them to force tle laws in this county, and to produce such evidence (as we may be able to obtain) to our courts of justice for the convic tion of any person or pel sons dis obeying the laws of our city, state and nation. VVe need your help, get behind this movement and give it a push. Chuirnn n, Ex. Com. From Car Window Following our inclinations in connection with a little business, we called on some of our eastern Cheyenne county good citizens the latter part of last week and the first of this. We touched at the old Olmstead ranch, one of the most inviting homesteads along the border; Mr. N. Ander son now owns it and is at present hat vesting a fine crop of wheat. B ing fond of children we got acquainted with their bunch of six—a fine lot—two of the little girls are twins and we very read ily made up with them, the writ er having had twin sisters. Co incidents are not the commonest things. That afternoon we rar, over to Mr. Riggs and besides en joying a half hours visit with these good folks we had the pleasure of further acquaintance with their fine girl twins, and before the day was out we went riding with the Graves fine twin girls. The coincidence is that wo never met up with three pairs ot twin giris before in one day. The Anderson twiirn are nine years, as well as nice. The Riggs twins are twelve a-d the Graves twins are three years old and the same adjective describes the half dozen liule lauies we met tha day.
