Planters Bank Buildit'o* NOTICE. It has been street gossip in Americus for the jtjast, eight or ten months that Mr. J. E. Mathis has an interest in Hightower's Book Store. I have corrected this to a few or my friends and thought it would pass over with ont further comment, as I did not wish to make a public denial of this gossip on account of the notoriety it would cause. However, it has gained such headway of late that I feel it an injustice to Mr. Mathis, ns well as nij self, and think it should be stopped, lienee the following for public information. To my friends who have heard this, and really did not know whether it were true or untrue. 1 wish to stiate that Mr. Mathis lias not now nor ever has had, one dollar’s interest, directly or indirectly, in this business. This should set at rest the gossip re ferred to. No one owns a penny in she Hightower’s Book Store, except myself. Will say that if I did have any business connection with Mr. Mathis, I would be only too glad to admit it..
