ROME, June 9.—The Italian's war office statement this morning says an Austrian aeroplane dropped a number of bombs on Venice early today, sev eral private homes sustaining slight damage during the bombardment. One woman and a girl whe chanced to be in the vicinity of one of the ex ploding bombs were badly injured by flying splinters of steel. No other persons were hurt. Further inland, the aeroplane at tacked a farmhouse, one person being killed and several Injured. Little property damage resulting. Both at tacks took place before daylight this morning. ARTILLERY DUEL CONTINUES AT DARDANELLES (By Associated Press.) CON ST ANT ION PLE, June 9—The Turkish official statement issued at noon, says heavy artillery fighting be tween Turkish land batteries and Al lied troops continued throughout all of Tuesday, along the Dardanelles front. The Turkish fire is described in the statement as having been especially accurate and its effect disastrous to the allies.
