Jim Cuerry Writes an Interesting Article About the New Court House Evrror News-—Sinee tl e gues. tion of a new eourt house tor Ter re 1 has been agitated, 1 have been asked by seversl ot onr citizens the plan upon which a court house could lecrected. 1 ask a'small space in your paper to muke a ‘generel and public answer to there ‘ quf"‘tiva:‘s. "I do not propose, in this article, “to advince any reasocs why a new court house should be built, for it scenis to be generally conceded ' that we need one. I desire simply to roint out the way, and the only way, in which we ean get a new court house, First, a local law wul have to be passed by the legislature authoriz ing the issuing of bonds by the county authoritics for this pur pose. Then a vote will have to he had on this 2ct to zee if the people will authorize the issuing of'said honds. My owz views on the question ure as tollows: lave the legislature to pres an wet authorizing the issuing of honds bearing iuterest at six or seven per cent. for 30,600, or for so much ¢8 may be needcd in the erection of the new court honse; these Londs to run twenty or thir ty vears and to be for $l,OOO each, ‘and let the county redeem one hond each year. In this way the burden will hardly be felt by those gentlemen who are tow exercising themsclves so much in opposition 'to the proposed improvement. | Randolph, a county no better or (richer than ours, has already built L one costing £25,000 and her taxcs Lare not more thar ours, if so much, " Allof her peop'e point with pride | to this evidence ot progress and Fpub'ic spirit of her citizens, ( Tamnot in favor of judging a ;man by tle clothes Lie wears, but the roads and public buildings of a | county are a fair test by which to Judge ot the progress ard prosperis (ty ot its people.
