THE COPPER ERA, CLIFTON, ARIZ., MARCH 15, 1900. Startling Discovery Last Monday morning, while Henry Hill was tearing up the floor of one of his old adobe buildings, on the east side, on the site of the new barber shop, he found a baking powder can against the wall, under the floor, and,' upon open ing it, discovered fifty dollars in green backs and twenty dollars in boletos. Of course, Mr. Hill being an honest son of the Emerald Isle, made public the dis covery, and stands ready to turn the can and contents over to the owner upon presentation of sufficient proof. A great many people have occupied the room during the past ten years, and, as there is no means of determining just how long the treasure has been hiddon, none of the old timers have any idea who the depositor could have been. -A Rich Strike. One of the most important strikes ever made in this district was made last Sat urday in the Shannon copper mine when a regular mountain of sulphide of copper ore, which assiys astonishingly, was struck. Tuesday evening the miners had penetrated the body to a depth of thirty feet and the end was not in sight.. This discovery will doubtless lead to the early construction of a plant for the treatment of the ore from the Shannon mine and will be worth millions to this camp.
