he Meridian Times MERIDIAN, ADA COUNTY. IDAHO, PRIDAY, NOVEMBER 19. 1915. VOLUME 7 NUMBER 28 Booster Club is Busy ! There was a large and representa tive Attendance of both business men and farmers at the regular meeting of the Meridian Booster club Wednes day night of this week and several propositions of especial importance to the community were considered. The meeting was marked by a spirit of interest and co-operation t liât promises well for the success of the various undertakings which the club has In hand. L. A. Copeland, presi dent of the cluti, presided at the ses sion. of Ono of the most important ques tions discussed was that of establish ing a monthly sales day or trad ers day in Meridian similar to the plan that has worked to such great success at Nampa and Caldwell. The sale would furnish a medium of ex change for the people of Meridian and vicinity who have livestock, farm implements, furniture and oth er articles for sale but in quantities too small to warrant their holding sales themselves. Parties who find themselves in this position, it was pointed out, are now forced to pat ronize the Caldwell or Nampa month ly sales, and with this patronage goes considerable business that right fully belongs to Meridian. J. J. Caldwell and S. H. Griffith were named as a committee to promote the sales day plan and they will re port at the next meeting to the club. R. M. Bell of the park committee reported that he conferred with Joel Priest, the Oregon Short Line's spec ial agent at Boise, regarding the question of securing for park pur poses the block owned by the rail road here and located between Broad way street and the depot, and that while there have been no definite de velopments as yet the prospects are excellent for the scheme being a success. It has the support of the village trustees as well as the Booster club and has been taken up by Mr. Priest with the O. S. L. of ficials at Salt Lake. E. 6. Pfaffle and George Atwater, the other mem bers of the park committee, were not present at the Wednesday night meeting. S. H. Grundahl, president of the Farmers Country club, was present and gave a short talk on the benefits derived from that organization both ia social and commercial ways. Tlte members of the club are ranchers re siding south of Meridian. A hearty invitation was extended the Farmers club to join interests with the Boost ers and it is probable that the two organizations will be merged in Jjie near future. Mr. Grundahl also announced that at the meeting of the Farmers club (Friday) Prof. H. A. Ireland, govern ment advisor for ject of cow testing, the Ada county farm expert, will also be present. ; Arrangement* are under way for a home talent show to be staged with in the next few weeks for the bene fit and financial aid, of the Booster „ club.
