Boise, Idaho, May 26.—Farm Bureau
membership of Idaho has increased to
about 12,000 already in 1919, from the
10,000 membership of last year, says
R. H. Mussor, Assistant County Agent
Leader, in a statement urging every
farmer to be interested in the advam-e
ment of his farm bureau "which means
better livestock, better farm crops, in
cidently better marketing and improv
ed living conditions.''
"Farm bureau organization," says
Mr. Musser, "means unity and organ
ized effort for the development of agri
culture and in turn will bring organiz
ed as well as individual profitable re
turns.
"If organized effort through the
farm bureau organization within the
communities of the county will return
to the county a saving of $100,000 in
farm crops, by the extermination of
rodent pests, etc., it benefits every per
son within the county, whether or not :
he has been a member of the farm bu
reau and had a part in it. Does not
then every person within the county j
become a part of the farm bureau i
either directly or indirectly? Then is
it not necessary for every person with
in the county to become an active mem- !
ber of the farm bureau, which enables
each individual as well as the county
to secure greater returns!
"The county agent is not a spirit
going among the farmers and telling
them how to do things, but an ordi
nary human being trying to help solvo
the farm problems in an organized "'ay,
"Your county agent is a direct rep
resentative of your Agricultural Col
lego and brings the aid of that insti
tution and of the Department of Agri
culture to the farmers. Through the
farm bureau organization you are able
to make the best use of these institu
tions together .with the knowledge of
the best farmers, gained through exper
ience, with all of which the county
agent should be familiar.
"The farm bureau cannot correct all
conditions in an instant. One thing
should be accomplished at a time.
While the farm bureau has in its plan
the building up of and carrying on of
all phases of agricultural development,
yet each particular part of that plan
must be worked out by those most in
terested in it.
"The farm bureau is yet in its in
fancy and needs the support of every
farmer, for there is undoubtedly a
great deal of good that can be de
rived from the developing of an or
ganized program of work. Suer a pro
gram will extend not only throughout
the county but throughout the state,
as the farm bureau is a national or
ganization."

Prayer meeting was held at the
school house Thursday evening
A large crowd was at the dance Sat
urday evening at Evert Willoughby's.
All had a good time.
Many of the Ridge people were at
Peck Sunday to witness the ball game
between Orofino and Peck.
Howard Thomas and family visited
relatives at Clarkston the first of last
week. J. W. Thomas returned home
with them.
Ralph Tull and Lewie Hunter were
driving Ira Coon's truck Saturday and
ran into a bank as they turned a corn
er and upset the truck, damaging it
slightly, but the boys were not hurt.
Mrs. Jack Rugg is visiting relatives
and friends in Peck. Jack went down
Sunday, returning Monday.
Everett Stearns went to Orofino Sun
day to work for Jack Bryant.
Howard Thomas was accidently hit
in the eye with a base ball the other
day damaging his eye considerably.
