Flowers For Christmas.
Richmond, Va., Dec. 8—The florists of this city are making extensive prepar ations for their Christmas trade, for which the outlook is exceedingly promis ing. The supply, however, will not equal the demand, as the florists are simply un able to meet the calls upon them for both Christmas and Easter. The price for bride's roses about Christmas time will be about fz to $3 a dozen. In (he north the price will be about ft each. The Kaiserin Augusta will bring $2 a dozen here; violets $2 a hundred; lilies of the valley ft and $1.50 per dozen. The chrysanthemum season ended with Thanksgiving. Paralized by a Bullet. SKATTI.B, Dec. 8 —Elmer Lord, of Stone's landing, was this morning brought to the city on the steamer Dauntless, a helpless paralytic l)is spinal cord being cut between the shoulder blades by a pistol bullet. Sam Brown, who, according to the story of the father of the victim, shot the young man while in a drunken frenzy, is in his house, defying arrest and threaten ing to shoot the first man who approaches the place. Elmer Lord was the mail carrier for Stone's landing, a small port on Puget sound, between Seattle and Ta Mi waultee Art Show. Mii.witkkk, Dec. 8.—The Society of Milwaukee Artists opened their art ex hibition today at the public library. The exhibition, which is exclusively made up of pictures painted by artists whose studios are located in this city with one exception will be open for one month, the pictures being exhibited every day in each week, including Sunday, Clark-Stealey. Chicago, Dec. 8.—Mr. Samuel Thom as Clark was married today to Miss Euph ronia Stesley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. O. Stealey at the residence of the bride's parents. After a honey-moon trip through the western states the bridal couple will take up their residence in Chicago. * . Washington Society Events. Washington, Dec. 8.— Justice and Mrs. McKenna will introduce their daughter, Miss Hildegarde McKenna a a reception at their home in this city to day- Miss Fannie Fuller, daughter of Chief Justice and Mrs. Fülle*, will be presented the third week in December.
