Fourteen quarter sections of school land lying six miles north of Nezperce, was sold Monday by C. B. Stneuenberg special agent of the «täte land department. The average price was $12 per acre. Most of it was sold to settlers having adjoining claims. When seen by a reporter concerning the work of the coming legislature, Dr. Moody gave a strong expression of his objection to the policy being pursued by the party lead ers of the fusion elements who are seek ing by caucus to anticipate the work of the legislative members. Donahue of Baron county, Wis consin, arrived in the city yesterday evening. He expects to make his future home here, E. J. Doyle, who has been teaching school near Kendrick for the laat two months, returned home yesterday to spend the holiday». Mrs. White Moberly, teacher in the Goodnight school district on Genesee hill, has returned to her home in the city to spend the holidays. Miss Grace GifFs, who has been visit ing with her sister, Mrs. Bert Smith, of this city, started this morniug for her home at Trail, British Columbia. Harley Strong, Ed .Knight and Harry Dent left on the morning train for the North Fork to spend the winter doing assessment work on their mining claims. County Superintendent Mias Jennie Harrington left yesterday for Mountain Home, where she will attend the county superintendents' and state teachers' asso ciations which will meet at that place this morning. Tracy E. Inman returned yesterday from a mining trip to the Klondike for a visit with his pareuts in this city, Dr. and Mrs. L. F. Inman, He has been gone about a year and made his head quarters at Lake Beunet, B. C. O. A. Kjos has on hand about 75c un called for tickets for guesses on the grand piano to be given away New Years day. Bids will be received and the lot sold to the highest bidder, the proceeds to be distributed among the churches. The jar containing the tickets is now displayed in the show wiudows of the Kjos store.
