We believe that Tax-payer has recently been resurrected from the eternal darkness of deepe.-t oblivion and placed in th elevated position of school director, and the import ance of his position has turned his head. AVe feel confident that he would make an efficient wider-carrier for a school. AVe, like Tax-payer, aro not n school t 'Hclcr, nor do we ever ex pect to be, and we make this state ment in order that Tax-payer may not be under the impression that the author of this article is a teach er trying to vent his jqiito upon his brainy head. AVe simply dislike to see the teachers bemoaned by such nonsensical bosh. Talk sense, Tax-payer; get out of your state of knownothingism, old fogyism, etc., and present some thing to the press worth publish ing, and we will be delighted to sanction it, and if yon are right we might get our consent to publicly nominate you for Congress. Now, as to answering your argu ment in favor of charging one dol lar for each certificate, we seo only one point that is worth answering, and in fact it is the only point you made in your long harangue worth noticing, and that is the question of acquiring revenue for the coun ty. You say you believe it is right to charge the teacher one dollar for each certificate in order that some revenue may come to the county. AVell, now, after the poor teacher's warrants have been 6haved 10 per cent, he pays enough revenue to the county without being charged im extra dollar for his certificate. If the teacher could present his war rant and get every cent it calls for tho charge for a certificate would not be such an important matter, and every teacher in the county would willingly pay his dollar. Just such fellows as Tax-payer are responsible for this state of af fairs, and if they along with him could be banished to some land where intellect and progress never held sway, the county would bo much better off. Now, as to growling at the court, treating all alike, giving us better te&chers, etc., we will say that not a growl havo we given expression to, and as to the co-operation yon re fer to, we assert that it is the very kind you are not giving your help to. Your argument shows you up in your true colors of one opposed to all fairmindedness and in favor of self. Now, Mr. Tax-payer, we have tried to do as you bade us smoke your argument in our pipe but we are sorry to say, after several vain at tempts, we examined our pipe and behold! there was nothing iu it. Give us that tobacco, cultivated by an intellectual mind, and we will gladly smoke it, but beware of lugs! Justice. Big Sandy, July 20.
