As wo write we get warning to work the road three days this week, Some people (boyond tho confines of this district) may conclude tha this is just-to finish getting in our "time," but such is not the case. is the first time the overseer has , warned the hands to work this road. While it is regretted, it is a fact, however, that no effort is made in this district to make good roads; the overseers and hands endeavor only to get in their "time" and thus escape tho grand jury. . As a result public roads in this district are al most impassable with anything larger than a wheelborrow. How is this to bo remedied? There is only ono way, and that is to see that the law i3 enforced not by mpre legislation, but by an application of the laws that we have. It is well enough to know some times that you don't know anything.
