Combs has been very sick, but is some better, we are pleased to learn. Miss Lizzie McCullough is at tending tho school dosing at Hunt ingdon this week. , Dr. W. M. Wright of Hunting don was called here Monday to see Mrs. J. H. Combs. 13. F. Brown went to Henry County the first of the week, to be gone several days. J. 13. Flowers, Chet King, W. S.. Morgan and others- of Holladay were here Monday. II. C. Utley, who went to Arkan sas a few months agor returned home last Saturday. O. II. Williams, who spent last week here with his family, has re turned to Manleyville. Miss Vinnie Herrin of Wyly epent last week hero visiting her aunt, Mrs. Lizzie Bell. John W. Garrett has completed his building contracts at Dickson and returned home Sunday. Hudson Travis have installed a 500 candle- power arc light in front of their business house. Dr. and Mrs. I. J. Anderson of Huntingdon spent Sunday with relatives in the tenth district. Elder J. W. Waters of Hunting, don was the guest of Ilev. J. M and Pickens Sunday afternoon Monday. Albert S. Justice, formerly cash ier of the Benton County Bank, moved to- Wartrace, Lis old home, this week. Mr. and Mrs. Justice Lave made inany friends while here, and many regrets Lave been es pressed at their departure. Mrs. A. L. Goodwin of Chicago gave a free lecture to the ladies of Camden at the court-house Mon day afternoon upon the subject of 'The Higher Physical Life of Wom an." Those who were fortunate enough to hear Mrs. Goodwin were impressed with her earnest, wom anly maimer, and her theme ap pealed to all. She is no doubt a true christian woman, and speak's from tho strength of her convic tions that woman holds the destiny of the world in her keeping. Mrs. Goodwin is lecturing throughout the Stale, though seldom stopping at small places, and come here highly recommended by the press of Tennessee. V. K. Flowers has been making some neat improvements at his place of residence. H. Cornelius Whitescarbcr of Cuba Landing was here Wednes day en route to Buena Vista. Quarterly meeting was held at Bethlehem last Saturday and Sun day. Elder J. W. Waters presid ed. Prof. W. D. Cooper and others whose names we did not learn, at tended the school closing at Hunt ingdon. J. II. Whitfield has, bought an interest in the grocery business of T. J. Dodd, the firm now being Dodd & Co. Mrs. M. J. ITamer and little granddaughter, Miss Maud Weath erly, are making an extended visit in Flatwoods. 4 Vernon A. Farmer and wife of Arapahoe, O. T., are spending a few weeks visiting friends and relatives here. William Caraway, J. F. Dowdy, T. W. Floyd and a number of other prominent citizens of Big Sandy were in the city Monday. Miss Clara McAuley, daughter of Calvin McAuley of Martha, 0. T., is visiting tho family of her uncle, Dr. E. M. McAuley. Next Sunday is the appointment hero of Ilev. J. M. Youree at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Services morning and evening. Clark M. Wiseman and wife of Paris spent a few days here with relatives and friends this week. He contemplates locating at Pad u- cah. The town council was to have met last night to consider site for con structing a lockup, but we go to press too early to give the result of their deliberations. A family reunion wa3 held at the home of II. F. Stigall last Sat urday, it being Sir. Stigall's GOth birthday. The anniversary dinner was attended by every member of the family, and the occasion proved to be a most enjoyable one. Mr. Stigall carries his years well, and bids fair to enjoy many happy re turns of the occasion. Harry Barllett of Richmond, Tex., son of John Bartlett, an old Camden citizen, is spending a few days her, the guest of his aunt, Mrs. Xannio Bivens. Quarterly meeting svill be held at the Method ist Church, beginning to-morrow and including Sunday. Services will bo held to-morrow night end Sunday and Sunday night. Ed L. Smalley of Newark N. J., was a guest of tho family of J. V. Travis yesterday. Mr. Smalley is Southern agent of the Edison Pho nograph Co., at Patterson, N. J., and stopped oil hero a short while to see friends. Ho left vesterdav for Jackson and Memphis. W. C. Barker of Purcell, I. T., paid us a pleasant call Monday. Mr. Barker is an old Camden boy, and since ho went to the territory fifteen years ago, where he Las been engaged in the hotel business, he has been very successful in a financial way. He and his wife are spending a few days hero with rela tives and friends. The children of the Presbyterian Sunday school will probably be given an outing. They have re ceived an invitation from tho Big Sandy school to' meet them at Sulphur Springs and have a union picnic.
