Sprin kle the apples generously with sugar and dot over with small bits of butter and cover with a soft crust, made as biscuit dough without , shortening. The crust should be about half an inch thick. Cover the dish closely and set back on the range where the apples will cook slowly, and the crust will steam and cook thoroly. When done place in a hot oven to brown quickly. Tip out on a platter and serve with butter and sugar sauce. This pot pie may be used as the main dish of a simple lunch, or as a hearty dessert to supplement a slender dinner. Dwarf Essex rape is one of the most succulent and most satis factory green feeds for poultry. At this season of the year, when the early summer garden ha3 served its usefulness, what ground can be spared should be spaded, prepared well and sown to Dwarf Essex rape for green feed for winter. It is also a cov er crop which will make the gas den more productive again next year. . Lettuce, beet tops, turnip and mustard salad may also be used as green feed. Small potatoes and waste vegetables may be used to advantage as chicken feed. Green feed in winter produces eggs, and with them selling at 50 cents a dozen this year, every farmer in Jackson county should produce some rape. 1 n 1 ' : ; ? o o o 9" o o o o o & o o o o o SIX MONTHS TIME TTeiin.
