Work on the new building is progressing rapidly. r MYSTERIOUSLY DROWNED WHILE HE WAS FISHING. A searching party of 100 men have been engaged in dragging the Nola chucky river, near Lost Cove, at the Tennessee-North Carolina state line, for several days, in search of the body of Randolph Kent, 22 years old, and an employe of tire Carolina, Clinchfield & Ohio railroad. Kent was fishing at Lost Cove, when he was mysteriously drowned. He was a relative of John Skelton, Williams, of Richmond, and John Harris, of the supreme court of Virgin ia. A BABY ICAMEL The Mighty Ilaag Railroad Shows have the youngest living baby camel in captivity today, having been born in winter quarters at bnreveport, prior to the shows leaving there. The baby without doubt is the finest specimanof Siberian camel that can be found in America today. C.; Wilmington and Charleston, iN. C fifty in number, arrived in Johnson Citv Friday at 4 p. m. Besides the cotton kings the party included Col. J. C. Hemnhille. editor of the unariesion News and Courier; W. K Gougales, of the Columbia Htate and Jno It. Hoss, of the Charlotte Observer; John ti. Wynders, president of the Clinchtield Coal Corporation; M. J. Caplen, gener al manager of the C. C. & O. railway, and J. J. Campion, traffic manger of the C. C. & O., were chaieroning the the parly. When the special carrying the rarty arrived at Johnson City, the Commer cial club was at the station, and the visitors were escorted to the street cars and were taken to the Soldiers' Home. After the home had been inspected, the party were given a ride to Carne ge Hotel. The party was delighted with the magnitude,)! the Soldiers' Home, and was surprised to find such a town as Johnson City on the line of the L. C. & O. rail w ay. After spending two hours here, the special, consisting of a baggage car, three private cars and a Pullman, left for Dante, Va., where a banquet was served in honor of the cotton mill men. Johnson City and the C. C. & O. are offering large inducements to those cot ton kings in order that they may be in fluenced to locate cotton mills here. JOHNSON CITY POST OFFICE INCREASES. Under the annual re-adjustment of salaries of the postmasters of Johnson City is raised from $2,000 to $2,700 and Jonesboro drojw from J 1,800 to $1,700. DANCE AT HOTEL CANEGffi.
