The birthday party at the MunBey
Memorin! Methodist Church under the
auspices of Circle Five, with Mrs. Ba
ford M allies, chairman, was a great
success. The proceeds amounted to

nest Miller's violin selections were
greatly enjoyed.
The next attraction, is the Easter
Fair, by the ladies of the church, on
the l.'ilh of April, the Thursday beft re
Easter. The ladies will have beauti
ful and useful articles for your inspec
tion and you are invited and expected
to be present.
Mrs. H. B. Merccrean
Gives Card Party.
Mrs. H. R. Mercerean gave a
card party yesterday afternoon at her
cozy home, 109 Watauga avenue.
The decoration was in honor of
Ireland's patron saint and the sham
rock was in evidence everywhere.
Five Hundred was indulged in and
several tables were fitted. Three
ladies cut for the prize, a lovely
brass flower basket, and it was won
by Miss Roma Eiseman. A salad
course, in the form or a ereen
Irish potato, green mints and nuts
were pleasingly served.
Mesdames Brading and
Wofford Entertain.
Yesterday afternoon Mrs. P. II.
Wofford and Mrs. J. E. Brading
entertained at the home of the
home of the latter, 122Unaka av-

in the hall.
Mrs. Brading wore white wieh

black with green carnation. Miss
Ellsworth presented each guest with
dainry card containing parts of
quotations and the complete quota
tion indicated partners for luncheon
The cards contained also handpaint
ed lrisn emblems and tnese were
changed every hour. One division
being devoted to shamrocks, one to
the pipe and one to the pie.
Mesdames James A. Summers and
ohn A. Muse invited the guests in
to luncheon and Misses Fay White
side, Nettie Wallen and Audrian
Hite served green ices in potato form
and white cake with green icing,
nuts and green mints following. The
dining table carried a rich cut glass
vase fitted with green carnations.
The guests passed from the
dining room into the drawing j
room, where Mrs. Allen Harris,
Misses Angeline Wofford and El
eanor Exum served delicious
punch. It is seldom that a more
delightful affair is given Johnson
City and one more carefully plan
ned in all essential details. Sev
