On Thursday afternoon from 3 to 4
and from 4 to 3 Mrs. C. T. Bondurant
entertained about seventy jtue.sts at a
reception in honor of her visitors, Misses
Ixitlie Webb and Kathleen Moorman,
of luaytield, Ky. Punch was served as
tin guests arrived, aud later, refreh-
! menta. On Thursday the Elks' flub
had "open house" from S to 5 in the
afternoon and from 7 to 12 in the even
ing, iuvititijs the public to their new
quartern, which have just been finished.
Punch was served. In the' evening and
sftemoon dancing was enjoyed by quite
a number. On Friday evening Miss
Tbelma Baltzer entertained a number of
yoursz ladies and young men. Differ
ent games were enjoyed. Ices were
served. Mrs. Springs, of Jackson, has
been visiting Mr. and Mrs A. H, Leet.
Miss Eubye Fleming has returned
from a visit in Louisville and Lexington.
Miss Mildred Kamago and Miss Vir
ginia Lu ten have returned from a visit
in Louisville. Mrs. James Cunning
ham and little son have returned to
Union City. Miss Mary Briggs has re
turned from a visit in Union City.
Miss Mary Barber has returned from
louisville. Mrs. J. M. Reid left Mon
day on an extended visit in St. Peters
burg, Fla. Miss Mattie May Seay at
tended the reunion in Jacksonville, Fla.
Mrs. J. L. Amberg and little son,
DeWitt, are visiting in Nashville. Miss
Rubye Seay has returned from Nash
ville. Mrs. J. C. Sexton has returned
from Sturgeon, Mo. Miss Jessie Lee
Reed has returned to Fulton after a short
visit here. Miss Clemmons, of Fulton,
visited Mrs. W. A. Naylor Saturday and
Sunday. Mrs. Eleanor Bowers has re
turned from an extended visit in Florida
and Memphis. Miss Lizzie Pickett vis
ited in Dorena, Mo., this week. Mrs.
J. O. West is visiting in Oklahoma.
Miss Erin Roper, of State Line, visited
Miss Annie Lee BrCWn this week. Mrs.
Robert Saddler, of Martin, is visiting
her mother, Mrs. R. M. Metheny.

relatives at Union City last week.
Mrs. E. E. Chillers returned to her
honie at Eutaw, Ala., after a visit to
her nephew, Dr. C. E. Upchurch. She
was accompanied as far as Meridian by
Dr. Upchurch.
Mrs. W. A. Beckham and children,
of Union City, were guests of relatives
in the city last week.
W. V. Nail and family, of Rives,
were visitors in Obion Sunday.
Miss Floreta Star-field, of Dyersburg,
spent Sunday here with homefolks.

Gullett, of Trimble, were visitors' in the

Vern Forcum has returned from a
business trip through Indiana in the in

A. W. Trogden and Mrs. G. W. Trog
den left Sunday for Waverly, Tenn., for
an extended visit to relatives.

on Reelfoos Lake.
Ed Ledbetter was reported very sick
Monday and Tuesday.
Talmage Cunningham and wife, of
near Glass, were guests of relatives in
the city Monday.
Mrs. Will Morris went to Martin last
week and joined a large number of peo
ple from the school there and made a
trip up the Cumberland and Tennessee

Mrs. Albert Graham was taken to
Nailling's Hospital in Union City last
Wednesday for an operation. Her many
friends are glad to know she is rapidly
recovering. -
Mrs. F. M. Carney and children are
visiting Mrs. Carney's mother in Weak

The Morton Musical Comedy Com
pany is the current attraction at the
Reynolds Theatre, in connection with
their regular program of pictures, and
to tell it all, they are clean, clever and
classy. ' The company is composed of
nine people, who are presenting minia
ture musical comedies of the highest
class. The price uf admission is 10c to
everybody. ,
Commencement Here.
Commencement week opens Friday,
May 13, with a reception and buffet
luncheon given by the Juniors to the
Seniors in the gymnasium at 8 p. tu.
Saturday at G p. ni. at the home of
the superintendent an informal tea will
be given in honor of the Seniors.
The baccalaureate sermon will be
preached at the Christian Church by
W. W. Armstrong. The Seniors will
be ushered to their seats by an "Escort
of Honor" composed of the Juoior
Class promptly at 7 p. m. Fublie cor
dially invited.
Oil Monday at 8 p. m., in the audi
torium of the High School, the Sepiors
will present a short play in German,
"Das Eigensinn," with the following

The public is cordially invited.
Tuesday night at 8 p. m., at the Opera
House, will occur the grade promotions
and awarding of prizes. It is purposed
in so far as possible to put the entire
school on the stage for the regular open
ing "exercises as daily conducted at
school. Each grade will present some
special school feature.
Commencement will take place at the
Opera House on Thursday at 8 p. in.
The address of the evening will be given
by State Superintendent S. H. Thomp
son. It will be well worthy everybody's
attention. The public is cordially in
vited. Friday night, 8 p. n.t at the gym
nasium, the alumni banquet will be
held. This promises to be largely at
tended and filled with that new enthusi
asm which has permeated the school.

The annual school exhibition will be
held at the old postoffice building on
Friday and Saturday j May 15 anil 16.
The hours of exhibit will be in the after
noon from 8 to 5, at night from 7:30
to 9. Never before in the history of
the school have we had an equallad ex
hibition in the Manual Arts and House
hold Economics. There will be an
abundance of work in art, writing,
maps, biology, etc. ,
The South Bend people, through
Bransford & Andrews, will give a gold
watch for the best exhibit in Manual
Training and a gold ring for the best
exhibit in Domestic Art.
