McDADE, Directors, Death of Mrs. R. T. Curlin. Mrs. Jennie L. Curlin, wife of Robt T. Curlin, died at home in Union Gty Moiw day afternoon. Mar. 17, 1919, at 2 o'clock after an illness covering a period of thirty, five years. ', Mrs. Curlin was the daughter of Robt. and Mary E. Watson, and was reared to womanhood in the family home ai Madrid Bend, Ky., seventeen miles north of Tiptonville, Tenn. She was born March 20, 1857, therefore was nearly 62 years of age. On October 28, 1878, she was united in marriage to R. T. Curlin. One child was born to the union, a girl, who lived only twenty two months. Mrs.' Curlin is survived by her hus band, her mother, a sister, Mrs. Fred Dabnke, Union City, and a "brother, Daniel, who lives in Texas. Locating after marriage with Mr. Curlin in Union City, Mrs. Curlin joined the Methodist Church in 1879. She was a charter member of the Wom an's Missionary Society of this church. She was a woman of rare mental quali ties arid serenely beautiful character. It was therefore not strange that she accepted her suffering with a philo sophical spirit and a deep and abiding trust in God. The minister thus spoke of her illness: For thirty-five years she had been a sufferer from rheumatism, which be came more acute with the passing of time, and for over three years she has been a helpless invalid. Few people have ever suffered so long and so acute ly; certainly there has not been another in all this community that has endured such intense and prolonged physical distress. Yet she refused to have her sense of suffering deadened by the use Of palliatives, so she drank the cup of suffering to the dregs. The same reso lution that enabled her to suffer also kept her courageous, so that whoever saw her in her sickness could hardly realize how great her bodily agony. "If life is a school with a lesson for each one, then Sister Curlin learned her lesson through the course of physical suffering. That she accepted her lot with superlative courage all must agree That she became rich of soul, having learned that earth had no resting place for her, and therefore heaven, ths hope of the soul, becami) the more real to her, we all believe." Through the heroic efforts of her husband, .who has long been known and universally esteemed as one of the leading merchants of this part of the state, a peer in his profession, above all a man whose trust in God and in the beautiful life that was given to his keep ing never faltered, every available to- source in northern and southern climate, in medical skill and in the leading san itariums was placed at the disposal of the patient, but all to no avail. Mrs. Curlin came home at last sweetly con scious of all that had been done for her and patiently resigned until death should release the imprisoned soul to the God who gave it. Returning to her early life, Mrs. Curlin was reared in the most favorable environments, in a community of most excellent people, known as the first families of the particular locality of Madrid Bend. She attended the local schools and completed a -college course in Saint Agnes Academy at Memphis. As stated before, the graces of acconv plished and beautiful womanhood had been hers to offer upon,, the altar of life's devotion and to consecrate to the loVe of her Maker, This trust was kept in imperishable faith and glorified in fulfillment. Services were held at the Methodist Church Tuesday afternoon, the casket in the altar with the body in sweet re pose, and above and around it a tribute of beautiful flowers." Rev. G. J. Evans, the pastor, read from Psalms 23 and from I Cor., 13. "Abide With Me," a ong offering by Mrs. Thad Lee, then the minister's eulogy and the remains WBre conveyed to the City Cemetery for burial. Dear Sir: You ask me what I think of the Cleveland Tractor. I can only say that as for myself I think it is the only practical tractor for the farmer. My reason is this. It is so simple and so easy to handle, and you can put it in a place that a horse can go, and many places he can't go. There is not much to it, and what there is, is power. As for the actual weight it can pull, do not know. I pulled a separator for toy neighbor, G. (J. Frost. t He said that weighed 13,000 lbs., and The rear wheels were miring near 6 inches in the ground, and pulled it up a very steep grade and I could not tell that it was behind me. ' . I went over 24 acres of wheat land last fall, both ways, with two 8-foot section harrows behind it, a two-man log on each harrow, and a 16-foot log behind the barrows, iu li days, and used 15 gallons of gas. 11 to 12 gallons of gas will break" about 8 acres of ground On an average! You can do anything almost with the Cleveland Tractor plow, harrow, disc and log, and turn as short almost as you can with a team., n Yours respectfully. y A. D. Brucb, ' ' Fulton, Ky., R. 3. P. S.
