S. and Victory Loan first. Mr. Balcom Bald ridge, of Illinois, has bought the tile factory. Mr. Baldridge has been here a week or so taking charge and seeking a location for his family. Mesdames Orie Brown, Knox Harp er and two children, Master Joe and Miss Ruth, are recovering from at tacks of flu. Mr. Knox Harper is up and about, but says he feels awful ly weak and lean. A. W. C. T. U. social tea a week or so since was an enjoyablo affair and several new members reported. There were so many truly poetic rhymes given in at the round table that, if it were not for spring, when all na ture feels atune, we would need to re port a number of promising verse makers. Mr. Garner Fisher, Muskogee, Okla., en route to Columbus, Ky., for a visit to the parental roof after an absence of four years was the guest Saturday and Sunday of his brother, Moss Fisher, on Church street. OBION STOCKMEN ORGANIZE INTERESTS TEOY. Mrs. G. R. McDade entertained the Ladies Aid Society of the Methodist Church with an apron party on Wed nesday afternoon, the 19th inst., at her lovely home. The party was very j unique in that er.ch member contri buted pennies in a dainty apron with as many pennies in the pocket as there are inches in the waist. The party . wos an enjoyable occasion for every gucct. Delicious refreshments were served. Troy school had an attendance of two hundred pupils last week. C. P. Wilson was a buyer in the St. Louis market last weok for Geo. B. Wilson & Son. The Troy basket ball teams, boys and girls, played Obion on the 14th inst. at Obion. It was a rainy day, buftho game wa3 ctappy. Tho girls' score was 4 to 8 io favor of Obion, while the boys' score was 4 to 2in favor of Troy. Many boys and girls from Troy attended the game, together with Mi3ses Donnell, Brown, McClanahan, Garth and Pressly and Prof. Cox Miss Nannio McGcwan, who was operated on at tuo hospital in Dyers burg, ia reported very much improv ed. TRAINING SCHOOL LOCALS.. Phebus Heads Organization to Im- prove County Conditions, Saturday afternoon delegations of farmers and livo stock men from every district in Obion County met hero and organized the Obion County Livo Stock' Association. Thirty-five delegates were present and tho fol lowing officers were elected: G. W. Phebus Jr., president; G. C. Cloys of Union City, secretary-treasurer, with a vice , president chosen from each district. An execu tive committeo of five men was also elected to transact the business of tho association. Instructor in France. Captain Walter Bittick Caldwell has been chosen as an instructor in one of the A. E. F. Universities which the Government is establishing in France. . Between ten and fifteen thousand stuaents are expected to enroll in the various branches. Capt. Caldwell will be engaged in teaching mathematics to West Point cadets. Reopen Recruiting Station. First class Sergt. Lester Bennett, who formerly was in charge of tho recruiting station in this city, has re turned from oversea duty in France and reopened the recruiting office in this city. Sergt. Bennett will have charge of and over the government recruiting service in West Tennessee. Stop! Look! Listen! Biggest game of the season, Basket Ball gam.v for the High School championship of the State. The Girls' Basket Ball Team of Central High School of Memphis is coming to play tho Union City High School Girls in the latter gymnasium, March 28. The former team has suffered only one defeat this season and has a splendid record. Tho latter team has won every game this season and hopes to keep up this record as long as the season lasts.
