VOL. 28, NO. IS HUTTT . UNION CITY HIGH SCHOOL FUNS FOR SCHOOL YEAR Plans looking toward the most suc cessful year of the Union City High School are being carefully developed. Application has been made to the "government to establish a Junior Unit of the Reserve Officers Training Corps. With this new and valuable feature added the government will detail two commissioned army of ficers to give military training to the boys. This worlc does not consist in military instruction alono but takes into account mass athletics, games and sports. Nothing is per mitted that will conflict in. any way with the regular routine of academic work. The object of the R. O. T. C. is to give the 'students a thorough physical training, inculcate in them a respect for all lawful authority and Ueach the fundamentals of military training and leadership, fo that when they graduate from our schools they wftl bT tetter qualified to solve the lYbbfc-DM of civil ftfo ant better pre pared to perform intelligently their duties e leaders of mec, 1t case of future military necessity. Such persons will also receive, at the expense of the Government, medical relief, or be sent to a Government hospital or Institution, should this be necessary. DEMONSTRATION CLUB GIRLS SHORT COURSE AND CAMP Beginning Monday, July 7, and lasting thru the 12th, Miss Luther will hold a Short Course and Camp at the Union City High Schol build ing for the girls belonging to the Home Economics and Home Demon stration Clubs. Tapson, of Palmersville, was accepted for enlistment in the Coast Artillery, and the local re cruiter reports that Mr. Tapson did not ask anything about the service he just came in and said, "I want to enlist for Coast Artillery." The Coast Artillery offers some good opportunities to men that want to study on the electrical and me chanical lines, ask any of tho men that have soldiered in the C. A.
