After a careful canvass of repra cetatives of the people from each Civil District in the County r.nd find ing that there is practically no in terest being taken in the preparation of the barbecue and reception to ttoff soldiers which was planned to be held in Union City on Sept. 25, the com mittee has decided toindeflnitetly postpone the holdirg of this recep tion and giving barbecue. The reas on most generally given for the lack cf interest is that a good many of the soldiers have not yet returned and others have gone to school and the country in general is in a state of unrest and uncertainty, and fcr this reason it looked like an inopportune time to hold a reception. Principal F, C. Aydelott, of the Union City Training " School, was called to McKenzie Tuesday to attend the funeral of his father, Dr. J. F. Aydelott, who died very suddenly Tuesday morning. Deceased was 65 years of age and leaves 1L wife and four children, three sons and a married daughter. Dr. Aydelott was born and reared in Decatur Co'rt a physician and citizen of flnet..iracter. Lee Thompson, student of the Union City Training School, was very badly hurt one day this week by one of the schoolmates while in play, Thompson was struck in the eye by the bullet from a sling shot, and for a time It was thought he had lost his eyesight. He had only one good eye, and this was the one in jured. Young Thompson is unfortu nately a cripple. He has an injured spine nnd one eye, and tho good eye was nearly put out by the bullet.
