The bodies of two members and fragments of others of a crew of a naval patrol bomber which plunged into the sea off Great Machipongo Inlet, Tuesday, have been recovered by a destroyer. Eight men are still missing. Two officers and eight en listed men were aboard the big plane which disappeared a few minutes af ter taking off from Norfolk in early morning mists. Shortly before arriving in Norfolk,' the destroyer reported it had recov- 1 ered wreckage near the scene of the crash and was bringing an inflated raft and a yellow life jacket found during last Tuesday afternoon. One of the rafts was deflated.! The destroyer marked the ‘scene ! with a buoy and began dragging in 30 feet of water. Naval authorities said that the wreckage, first sighted by a plane from an aircraft carrier about noon, was that of the bomber which took off from the Naval Air Station, Norfolk, Monday morning on a transfer flight for the naval air station at Quonsett Point, R. I. The wreckage was found in the sea about two miles east of Great Machi pongo Inlet. Some naval officers be lieved that the plane crashed into the water in a fog a few minutes after taking off. About the time the remnants of the bomber were found reports from Navy and Coast Guard sources in Washington said a ship similar to the missing bomber was seen moving safely on the water off New Jersey, but the plane was identified later as one of the searching ships. When electricity is used the oven should be preheated to the desired temperature before the cook ies are put in and switch turned on Bake. When buying berries one should be sure that they be at the proper ripe ness. When under-ripe, they are sour, and when over-ripe, they are mushy.
