Mr. and Mrs. Leon Peterson of Mah towa, spent the week with Mr. and Mrs. Val Barber. Mrs. Val Barber and Mrs. Leon Peterson called on Mr. and Mrs. Edw. Beaudry Sunday evening. The string band from the Little Moose church will render a program of music at the ice cream social at Nordland Lutheran church Saturday, Sept. 10, at 8 p. m. CHURCH NOTES An ice cream social will be given at the Nordland church Saturday eve ning, Sept. 10. Lunch will also be served. The Nordjand Ladies’ Aid will be entertained at the church by Mrs. Al fred Christensen and Mrs. John Pe terson Saturday afternoon, Sept. 17. There will be services at the Nord land church Sunday morning and eve ning, Sept 18, at the usual time. There will be a program and ice cream social at the Swede Park church Friday evening. Sept. 9. An auction sale will be held at the Mission church Saturday night, given by the Mission Ladies’ Aid. Clothing, candy and refreshments will be sold. A quiet wedding took place at the Swedish Lutheran parsonage in Meose Lake Wednesday evening, Aug. 31, at 8:30 o’clock, when Miss Edith Miner became the bride of Mr. Milton Beek strom, the Rev. J. A. Burmun offici ating. The attendants were Miss Mae Miner and Walfred Beckstrom. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Miner of Moose Lake, and the groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Beckstrom near Oak lake. They left for Upsala for a short honeymoon, after whieh they will make their home in Barnum, where the groom is employed at the creamery. They have tiie best wishes of a host of friend's for a long and happy married life. The Oak Lake Farm Bureau unit will meet at the Duquette Community hall Friday evening. Sept. 9. The joint services of the Vilstad, Bruno, Nickerson, and Oak Lake con gregations held at Oak Lake Sunday, were very well attended. In the fore noon confirmation and communion services were held with Dr. F. M. Eckman of Carlton, and the Rev. Chas. S. Rydell officiating. After a picnic dinner at John Miller’s near the lake, the afternoon services were held out in the open. Short talks were given by Dr. F. M. Eckman, the Rev. Chas. S. Rydell, the Rev. Sard, Mr. Linnerson, a student from the seminary, and Miss Vivian Sard. The Bruno-Vilstad choir sang two songs. CLOVER TOWNSHIP I The Garden club .held its annual exhibit at the Clover town hall Aug. 31. There was a fine display of vege tables, canned goods and fancy work. An interesting feature of this year’s fair was a baby contest sponsored by Mrs. H. Reid of Hinckley. A large number attended the fair and were entertained by Morris Folsom’s or chestra of Hinckley. The interest shown in the club work by some of the people of Hinckley, especially those who donated prizes for the prize babies and those who furnished entertainment was greatly appreciated by the club members. The members of the Sunday school attended a Sunday school rally at Danforth Sunday. A ten pound boy arrived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Irons Sept. 2. School began here Tuesday with Miss Elizabeth Swanson of Danforth, as teacher. Schools “A” and ‘B” are combined this year. Geo. Ford is transporting the ’ B” school children to the “A” school. Miss Hildur Westlund left Satur day for Rhinelander. Wis., where she will teach the coming year. Mrs. F. Sacre accompanied her niece, Grace Carpenter, back to her home in Indianola, lowa, Friday and will spend a week with relatives. Allan Aydt, Rita Robertson. Doro thy Rasmussen, Minnie Neuhring and Bonnie and Eleanor Hamm left this week to attend high school. Allan went -to Forest Lake and the others to Hinckley. The dance at Clover hall Saturday night was well attended. The next meeting of the Garden club will be at Mrs. P. Stulen’s home in Ogema, Sept. 21.
