Timoly Advico I wish to give the authori ties here a hint as to a cheap method of taking care of their drunks a method invented by officers in the "wild and wooley west," and not pa tented, so it can be used any where.. In Nevada in n min ing town, which is not well provided with room for con demned male factors they chain their common drunks to a convenient tree or post un til they sober up, giving them plenty of halter room. In the meantime the paper peddlers as they pass flaunt their pa pers in their faces and cry, "All the latest news how toget loose" etc., while some of their imbibing friends invite them very cordially to come and take a drink with them. One expierience of the kind is usually effective. C. Back from Canada Joe Dean and son; Stanlev. returned from a visit to Canada to prospect. Stanley says he was favorably im pressed with the country, but found land almost as high as here. It was the section across the line north of Minne sota that is being widely ad vertised at present. Ab the representative of the Heavenly Fattier, "Hosunnu In tho highest." From highest heaven alone, oven from Uod 'himself, can salvation fqr men come. Thcso shouts burst from the IhriniK when tho gorgeous pano rama of tho city broko upon their view. Tho sattio scone, however, called forth from .tonus, however, n sobbing lamentation (See Ltilto 19: 41-44). V. 11. "Jesus, the prophet of Naz areth In Galileo." Possibly from fear of tho Jewish rules they no longer called him Son of David. V. 12. "Jesus want Into the tem ple." Jesus claimed not political, but spiritual, kingship. What is about to be related occurred on tho follow ing day. "Cnst out all them." Karller In his ministry (John 2:13-22), Jesus had similarly cleansed the tempi. V. 13. "Don of thieves." Perhaps traders wero fraudulent In their deal ings; at any rato they robbed God of the honor and reverence which are due to him. V. 15. "Children crying . . . hos anna," The boys in the temple re peated now the cry they had heard from the multltudo the preceding day. "Sore displeased." Tho tuinplu nit thotltlcs wore Indignant, perhats be cause I hoy feared tho nolso would evoke the Interference of ltomau sol diers, but moro especially because they disliked everything that tended to establish the icnown of .Ir-sua. V. 1C. "lkurobt thou what thcso say?" Thoy thought Jems' rauaowna belittled by tho acclamations of the children, and that therefore he would rebuko them. Hut Jcstm then, ns now, loved the children, and wan plennttl by every expression of their love for him. Ilethphac was still nearer, both viUau-r being on the Mount or Olives. V.2. "Go Into the village." Prcsum ably tho villuc.o of Ilelhphugc. "An ass and a colt." It was the colt that Jesus wished to use, but by bringing tho mother with it and leading her before, tho colt would readily follow. V. 3. "If uny man say oueht." Tho owner of the animal did Inquire of tho disciples what they meant by taking them, and received the reply that Jesus had Instructed them to glvo. "Tho Lord hath need of them." Of oven these hutnblo animals, our Lord had need. "Straightway ho will send them." Having used them, the Lord will return them to you." This promise ho undoubtedly fulfilled, ns they returned that very evening. Vs. 4, 6. "Fulfilled . . . spoken by tho prophets." Zechnrluh, writing Ave centuries before, foretold tho Messiah's meekness by picturing him thus riding on an ass, "Tell ye the daughter of Slon." A poetic mode of saying: "Proclaim to the Inhabitants of Jerusalem." Tho city was often styled Slon, from one of Its hills. "Thy King cometh . . . meek." etc. Jesus was to come, not like a fierce war rior, but as a prince ot peace. V. 7. "Put on them their clothes." It was fitting that an animal to bo ridden by a monarch should bo decked with gorgeous clothes. V. 8. "A very great multitude." Often as many as 2,700,000 people came to the Passover feast of Jeru salem, Many Passover pilgrims ac accompanied Jesus nnd tho twelvo; Botno, however, looked on with cool scorn (See Key. "That went before nnd that followed." Tho throne that poured out from, Jerusalem's gates ascended tho Mount of Olives until It mot tho advancing party, then turning "went hoforo" Jesus and his Immediate at tendants. Tho throng before men tioned 'followed. "Cried." Rather, chanted; perhaps antlphonally, as Jews wero wont to do In worship, Tho vprdj they used, wero from Ps. 118:25,26,' Thoy wero words, appllod strictly to the Messiah. "Uoaanna." Eonio weeks ago I gava it lecture on tho subject of homo treatment for ap pendicitis and tho last rentencc of the lecture was "Don't he In n hurry to have an operation." On th other hand, It I should nt any time se verely overtax my strength, becomo a trlflo constipated nnd catch cold, a combination which frequently follow each other, I might pass nwny In a few hours. All of this I knew to be n fact. I also knew that I was working far beyond what any trmn oustit to do. I felt It was not right for me to long er take tho risk because I honestly be lieved that my renders have need of me. therefore, I told him to make prep arations to remove tho appendix on Friday. I selected tho noslstant sur geon for him, also a phjs.'clan for giving the anaesthetic, then on Thurs day started to wnlk to tho sanatorium. However, a neighbor pvertook ms about half way out and I rode tho bal ance of the way, went through the op eration on the next dny nt noon.
