Smith Is Superinten dent of State Fair Agri cultural Building. HACKLEMAN IS ILL Prospects For Good Corn Display Is Brighter Since Rains. John B. Smith, an assistant in the farm crops department of the College of Agriculture, has been appointed superintendent of the agricultural building at the State Fair, to All the place of Prof. J. c. Hackleman, who is cortGned to his bed with rheuma tism. The condition of Professor Hackleman is reported as being un changed today. The building which will be used this year for the agricultural exhibits was a. machinery hall last year. This building has considerably more floor space and more wall space than the building used for the agricultural dis play last year. Several carpenters are making the necessary changes. The decorative plan of the building will be worked around a large foun tain, which is being Installed in the center of the building. Seats for visitors will be provided near the fountain. The floral companies of Se dalia will furnish palms, ferns and other plants for the decoration of the building. "The prospects for an agricultural exhibit, while not as good as they have been in past years, are quite en couraging," according to Professor Hackleman. "We are getting reports from many sections of the state, lead ing us to 'believe a great many ex hibits will be sent in. The prospect for corn is considerably better in the last few weeks, owing to the rains, and persons who had not intended to show are expected to send corn. "Several inquiries have come in from other states. I have letters and applications for entry blanks from persons in Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio, showing that other states are begin ning to look at our premium list and desire to compete with exhibitors from this state."
