Devine and Ervin Sparke aged about 14 years, went to Austin, Cass county, on Sunday, on a pleasure trip, and they say they took revol vers with them to kill birds. When m the neighborhood of Austin, they met a boy named Harvey Robinson. The three were going along the hedge fence hunting birds, when Devine concluded he would scare Robinson by shooting in the air. He prepared to shoot when Robinson walked around some nedge brush in the path, and .Devine lowered his revolver to keep Robinson from see ing what he intended doing, when the pistol struck his (Device's) leg and was discharged, the ball taking effect in Robinson's thigh. Devine and Sparks became f reightened and fled leaving young Robinson lyiftg on the ground. He was found and taken to his home when a physician was summoned and the wound dress ed. The wound is verv painful but not necessarirly a fatal one. There ought to be something done to prevent boys from having revolvers. It would be a good thing it the .Marshal would search all the boys occasional ly as there are several in this place that own from one to a half dozen old pistols. Later : The boys were arrested on Wednesday and taken to Austin where they were tried and fined for shooting on Sunday and carryng con cealed weapons. Divine was fined $20.00 and cost, amounting to about $37, and Sparks was fined $10 and cost, $23,50. Sparks is an orphan boy, and rather than see him go to' ail the citizens of Adrian, Archie and Austin gave money to pay his fine.
