It was their lust meet iir on earth, ami euch the murderer tended it to be. Adry was a9 calm as the prisoner was impassioned. He was unmoved by the anathemas except toward pity. I ho meeting between the brothers was arranged by the parents, who beseache-I the condemned man to see Adry once more before he died He remained obstinate to their en treaties for a long time, but finally yielded, and sent by messenger a note reading: "Dear Adry I want you to come at once to the jail as I wish particu any to see you. I have no other object than to ask yoar forgiveness or any wrong, either real or imagi nary which I may have done you I want once more to see you on this earth This is the wish and dying request of your brother, Harry " When Adiy reached the jail he waited the conclusion of the yisit of Dr. Hayward, who was then with the condemned man. Deputy AHi son, however, passed tarouga the office to the jail coridor, and told Harry that Adry was in the outer office. ''Let him come up at once," said Harry. Dr. Hayward, however, did not relish the idea of the meeting be tween the brothers in his presence aud asked the deputy to wait until ho was ready to go before he showed Adry up the jail stairs. He re reamed n few minutes longer, then bade his brother farewell for the time being. Oq his way out he met Adry in the doorway of the ofhee, and the two stopped for a brief time and shook hands. The physician passed out of doors while Adry as cended the stairs to the coridor, where Harry stood, calmly awaiting him. They addressed each other in a friendly manner, after which Har ry requested the deputies to with draw a distance to allow him to speak to his brother confidentially. The officials did as requested, and from a distance keenly eyed the two men. The latter at once engaged in an earnest conversation. What passed was not heard by any person until Hurry raised his voice to say "Now I have done my part. I have forgiven you for all you have done. Now you do as I ask. "But, Harry, how can It" returned Adry appealingly. The answer was too much for the prisoner. Me sprang to his teet and poured forth a tirade of abuse never before heard m the old jail. "lou low down, mean, contempt ible, miserable, damnable wretch. You refuse ,vo do that after what have done. You God forsaken tool. You have played a good part, but now I can tell you what I think of you Sly letter to you was after al only a decoy for that purpose. You d d villain. If I could only get at you, I'd dig out your brains with a knife. I would tear out your heart with my hands. I would crush the two together, cut them into pieces squeeze out the juice, make it into pie and thrust it down your throat." He clenched Lis hands in his rae, and stamped his foot fiercely. His face was ashen and livid by turns. Adry sat quiet for a few minutes, but seeing the uselessness of waiting longer arose and started to go. -God bless you. Good by, Harry," he called sadly, as he was about to go down the stairs. "O, you villian," was the return greeting. "May the curse of God fall on you and yours and allow me to haunt your dying day.
