Invitations sent out by Miss Gladish, prior the re eepuon. were not suspecica as being wedding announcements. The evening was pleasantly spent in contests and games and just before the ladies took their departure a large bag w a s brought out by Miss Atkins, who who announced: "Girls, I am going to let the cat out of the bag" at which injunction a tab by cat sprang out of the bag, with a cluster of red hearts around its neck and a little note attached thereon. Immediately the merrymaker began chasing poor tabby, who took refuge un der a music cabinet, after turn ing over a hand painted vase; breaking it. One young lady who took the liberty to extract the cat from its hidding place was treated to several scratches for her familiarity. After the' note was recovered the tollowing j lines were read aloud: "Miss: Zada Gladish and Albert P.eh-1 rens will be married sometime; in April." Those present WILSON DEFEATS SCHAEFER FOR MAYOR The city election passed oil' ' rather quiet' last Tuesday but' each candidate was out early and worked untiringly till the curtain rang for the polls to be closed. Ever.' candidate was in a fine frame of mind and nothing but the hot of order prevailed during the day. On Monday it was supposed that W. 1!. Schaefer would have no opponent for Mayor; but no the morning of the election it was discovered that someone had persuaded Kent "Wilson to become a candidate, who car ried the city over Mr. Schaefer by 123 votes.
