JACKSON, MO., Al'G. 2fi. I'.KHt. Our cess-pool has been remov ed, also the chicken coop. Now, when we get a granitoid gutter in front, sanitary conditions will be much improved. And when we get septic tanks in the priv ies back of us, sanitary condi tions in this part of town will be first-class. No petitions required for can didates to get on ticket now, but sdl candidates for state offices and court of appeals must pay $100 to the party committee. For Congress, J5G must be paid; for circuit judge, $25, and for county representative $5. The xhange in the primary taw will make it much harder for the Prohibition, Populist and other minority parties to get candi dates on their tickets. Life, Love and Longevity. On August 20th. 1909. under the auspices of the Baptist La dies' Aid, a birthday surprise was planned and carried out on their oldest member, Mrs. Wig genton, who was then 73 years old. The ladies met at Dr. Ayres' and went in body to her residence, taking with them ice cream, cake and fruits. These luxuries are always good, but better are they when spiced with the Scottish wit and good humor which is possessed by this most excellent lady, and very freely used even at this nge of her life. We believe that this disposition of hers has been one means of her longevity a les.-:on for us. A number of other must inti mate friends of Mrs. Whrrrenton i were present, and the afternoon quickly passed in social talk and the reminiscences of the host ess, for whom at the hand-shaking wishes were extended for many more happy days and an niversaries.
