Again this week we are compelled to
leave out a very long and touching
obituary and some other matter of a
like nature, because we were not able
to rewrite and rearrange it. We had
to devote all our energies trying to
get a little news in type for the benefit
of our readers, while obituaries, cards
of thanks, etc., are not of interest to
the general public.

paper is llesh and blood, and subject
to ills and infirmities just like other
people, and in a little town like
Hayti, where the business will not
justfy hiring a regular printer and
temporary help cannot bo had, when
tho editor gets sick the people must
not expect too much. This is the case
again this week, and we are lucky to
get out any paper at all, and could
not do so only witli tho assistance of

good work cleaning up. Tho weeds
were cut In tho public square und some
culverts were repaired. Wo would
suggest that tho town pass an ordin
ance, if thoy have no such ordinance
to corapell non-resident property own
ers to keep the weeds cut down on
their vacant lots. The heavy
growth of weeds on these vacant lots
is not only unsightly, but the cause
of a great deal of sickness, and peo
ple who are ablo to own lots certainly
ought to be able to keep them in a re-
' spectable condition or sell to people
