U. C. Hall, the canning factory
man, was in Mansfield the tirst
of the week. Mr. Hall has just
returned from a trip to. Kansas
City, and he says that the toma
to business is looking a little bet
tor. lie is asking for a few more
acres of tomatoes around Mans
field. The tomato business is a
big industry in this country, and
should be encouraged by our
fanners and business men.
Now that the elections are a!!
over lor at least anowicr jcn,
let's iret together, and gel down
to business, and nv.iko Manstield
and surrounding country a bet

member, that if you did not get
your choice, the other fellow did,
and that we ought to all be will
ing to let a majority rule and,
let "the will of the people lo the
supreme law!"
Our newly elected sheriff.
Morgan I'rewse. begins his ad
ministration with clear cut ideas
of clean honest dealings and law
enforcements. His choice of
deputies in the different town
ships, shows good judgment, a
desire to be worthy of the place,
i.ti?t.lian of the welfare of the
IHX'ple of the County. We pre-

It is said that the strawberry
crop around Neosho, Monett,
Sarcoxie, and other strawberry
districts in southwestern Mis
souii and northwestern Arkan
sas is practically all killed. In
dieatiotis are that the strawberry
crop here wi'l yield about a half
crop. The farmers in this coun
trv would be "strictly in the
swim" this year, and with plenty
of berries at a fancy price, if we
now had our acreage out. This
is just what Mr. Faurot, of the
Mtn. Grove Fruit Experiment
Station told us a few weeks ago
when he was in Mansfield. He
said that our altitude was a little
"miter, and that the blossoms
come out a little later, which re
duces the chances of frosts and
freezes from catching our crops
If you could make as much
clear money out of five acres of
strawberries as the averag
Ozark farmer makes on his 100
acre farm, would you be intei
csted? This is being done by
hundreds of if rowers at Monett,
Anderson and other localities in
south west Missouri. Conditi
ons are Jio better there than in

growing berries. If we could
have a large acerage of berries

We believe that this would double

double the population of Mans
