One of the first things that comes to mind in the location of a county court house is the fa
cilities for reaching the county seat and this brings up the subject of good roads.
Beach is located in about the center of the county north and south and nearly all the
north and south roads lead to Beach. Farmers living both north and south of Sentinel
Butte have the best of roads into Beach and the best proof of this is the fact that a large part
of the grain in these territories is hauled to Beach because of the better road conditions,
grades, etc., brought about by the natural lay of the country and the work that has been
put upon these roads by farmers who make and have made Beach their commercial head­
During the past year great strides in road building were made on all roads leading to
the city, the city of Beach alone expending $1,500.00. which along with the work done by
the various townships tributary, put Beach on the map as the good road center of the
county. A good road convention was held in the city early in the season and this was fol
lowed up by alive campaign by the Beach business men who united their efforts with the
township officers in making the year 1914 a record breaker in Beach road building into
Beach. The local automobile association also put forth a lot of work into the movement
with the result that Golden Valley county stands up with the oldest counties in the state
Beach is the natural road center of the county and the largest meeting place. All county
meetings are held in Beach because of this fact and in putting the county seat permanently
at Beach it is locating it at a place most accessible to the majority of Golden Valley people.
The railroad now building into the south country is only another proof that the natura1
road center is located at Beach. It is proof that it is easier to build a road into Beach than
into Sentinel Butte, and what is true of rail road building is true of other road building.
The south road will make it easier for the people in the southern part of the county to come
to the county seat, transact their business and return home at the least possible expense.
When you consider the location of the county seat this fall—and go to the polls—think
of GOOD ROADS and cast your vote for BEACH.
