State Association Will Undertake Monthly Publication. -If -present plans do not miscarry, the North Dakota State Bankers' as sociation will sonn begin the issuance of a monthly magazine. Articles of interest to bankers in every section of the state will be published, and considerable space will be devoted to the Better Farming association. The new paper, which will be in the form of a magazine, will be issued month ly and will be known as the North Dakota Bankers' Monthly. Mason, of Leal, is a business caller here today. KEEPING "OPEN HOUSE" DEAR FOR BLIND PIGGERS. Lisbon, IN. D., July 24.—G. Murphy and J. Kelly tried in the Ransom dis trict court on charges of blindpigging were convicted on their admissions that they maintained "open house" and that anyone was at liberty to call and participate in the offerings of the place. Minnie Nielson returned home this morning after spending the past several days visiting the summer schools of Grand Forks, May ville and Velva. Miss 'Nielson was accompanied home by Miss Florence Holbrook, principal of the Forestville School of 'Chicago, also the author of a number of text books on 'Children's Literature. After dinner a launch and auto ride were enjoyed. MR. TORBINSON MISSED. C. O. Torbinson, after spending the week or ten days in Valley Ctty in at tendance of court has returned to his home at Rhame. Rhame is to be con gratulated in having Mr. Torbinson as a citizen. 'Mr. Torbinson grew to man hood in Barnes county and has 'been closely identified with its upbuilding. He has, at all times, been a giant in strength in politics and business and is sadly missed in his old corner of the county. VISITED CHAUTAUQUA. 'Mr. Albert Johnson, Carrington's popular lumberman, together with his good wife and daughter, were visitors at the Chautauqua yesterday. iMrs. Johnson is a .daughter of W. E. Jones, a pioneer lumberman of Valley 'City, "who carried on an extensive lumber business in the early eighties. Mr. Jones was a prominent mason and resided in a house located on the cor ner where now stands the Gray Block and his lumber office and sheds were just west of that. RECEIVED CHECK FOR FUND. IMrs. W. F. Gushing, chairman for North Dakota, has received a generous check from (Mrs. (Herbert IF. Chaffee, whose husband was one of the brave men who sacrificed his life when the Titanic sank into the silent seas last April. 'Mrs. Chaffee is the first con tributor to the fund from North Da kota, and in her letter .Mrs. 'Cushing, says: "This goes to you feeling that no honor is too great to besto'w on the nofble men who gave their lives for others."—'Fargo iCourieiMNeWs. IN DISTRICT COURT. The case of Wilson'vs. Stenshoel, defendant and A. E. Lundy, is on trial today in the district court. This will be the last jury case of the term and after the trial the jury will be dis missed. The court will continue dur ing the rest of the week engaged in the trial of court cases. CONG. BRO. VS. OR'ISKA. The Congregational Brotherhood will cross ba:ts with the Orlska Broth erhood team tomorrow (Friday) even ing, at 6:30 o'clock. D., July 25.—(A. dement ed woman, Mrs. Deward Skozenko, was taken off here in a pitiable con dition, in charge of her husband and Victor Hayes. Their home is at Mary postoffice, forty miles north of Bel field. The family has been in desti tute circumstances some time, the husband being sick and unable to work all summer, earning nothing for the long winter. The neighbors gave them some flour and this was practic ally all they lived on. It is presumed the woman, who was nursing a child became weak from want and worry until her mind gave way.
