(From Saturdays Daily.) [Former students of the Normal school are having a great reunion at the Chautauqua today, the day being designated as the "Normal School Day." A special program fitting for the oc casion was given after the lecture by Judge Sadler this afternoon. Presi dent McFarland has this year given the students of the summer school an advantage they have not had to any extent in the past. This is to have some person of recognized ability give talks at the chapel hour. Several talks were given by the students this afternoon at the Chautauqua grounds, dealing with different lines of educa tional work. A great many out of town students are here and the day will be one of the greatest days of the assembly of 1912. LIGHTNING STRUCK FARM. Lightning struck the farm of Joe Gallipo last evening burning his barn, fourteen iiorses, three cows, all the harness and hay and grain. TO COOPERSTOWN. Grand Forks, N. D., July 19.—The usual complaint of lack of help to larvf-i the crops of North Dakov is again being made. Demands for labor this year will be the greatest in the history of the state. Thomas Cooper, director of the North Dakota Better Farming association predicts that a crop worth $200,000,000 will be har vested in the state and it will require a great army of men to save the bumper crop. "The labor situation is one which demands immediate attention," said President E. J. Lander of the North Dakota Federation of Commercial clubs today. "We must have many men to save this big wheat yield. Labor is not in sight." Mapleton Boy Killed While Playing Ball Mapleton, N D., July 21.—(Clarence Carlson, aged 11 years, son of G. 0. Carlson of this city was almost in stantly killed at 7 o'clock this even ing in a peculiar manner. Young Carlson, with two other play mates were playing catch with a base ball in the street. 'One of the boys threw the ball to Carlson and struck the ground, and aw young Carlson reached to catch the ball on the bound it slipped through his fingers and struck him back of th© left ear. iHe dropped to the ground uncon scious and died fifteen minutes later. His two companions were Oscar War ner and Alex Flagg. (From Monday's Daily.) Last week a transfer was made of the Shannon block on East Front St. by Gearge M. John Jones got busy a short time ago, went to Litchville and made a deal wherein he traded their old Ford for a new one. We expect to see John go some now. Rev. Bruce called on Joseph Big nall Saturday evening. Miss Agnes Jones finished a suc cessful term of school last Friday re turning home Saturday evening. rMs. F. J.
