515 Claims Left On
Berthold Reservation
Minot, X. D., Sept. 10.—There are
515 claims left in the (Berthold Indian
reservation, after the calling of the
€.000 winners at the opening of the
reservation a year ago. When Judge
James W. Witten called the last name
Aug- 31, 850 people in all had filed.
There were altogether 1,3€5 claims.
The 515 claims will be open to gen
eral entry Oct. 1 or for settlement Oct.
1. Under the settlement provision,
any one establishing a residence on
the land at 9 o'clock on the morning
of Oct 1 and starting work on the
improvements, will be allowed ninety
days within which to file on the land.
He is given a preference right over
any other person seeking to file on the
land.

ANNUAL APPROPRIATION BILL
1912-1.913
BE IT ORDAINED, by the city coun
cil of the city of Valley City, county of
Barnes, and state of North 'Dakota,
that,
Section 1. This Ordinance shall be
known as the Annual Appropriation
Bill for the appropriation of taxes
levied upon the assessed valuation of
all the real estate and personal prop
erty in the city of Valley City, county
of Barnes, and state of North Dakota,
for the year 1913 and that,
Section 2. The County Auditor of
Barnes county, 'North Dakota, be and
he is hereby authorized and instructed
to levy a tax upon the real and per
sonal property assessed in said city of
Valley City, county of Barnes, and
state of North Dakota, sufficient to
raise the eum of $32,654.54 to be ap
propriated to the General 'Fund, Li
brary Fund, and Sinking and Interest
Fund, as follows, to-wit:
