Eckert, who has been visiting her daughter, Mrs. Alma Leck ert, left for her home in Neustrand, Minn., yesterday evening. Miss Elsie English, of Brainerd, Minn., a Hormer student of the Valley City Normal school, is the guest of Dr. and Mrs. Zimmerman. Miss Eng lish is on her way to Seattle, Wash., to attend the University of Washing ton. TO ATTEND UTAH UNIVERSITY. Fred and Walter Stack leave today for Salt Lake City to attend the Uni versity of Utah. They will flnishtheir education in that institution and make Utah their future home. Both young men are excellent football players and expect to join the Utah team this fall. They are graduates of the Valley City high school and both attended the University of North Dakota. The cli mate of Utah is the attractive feature to the boys. TO RESUME DUTIES. Miss True Spangenberg left the lat ter part of the week for Fingal to re sume her duties in the schools there. MISS ALDAHL RETURNS. Miss Clara Aldahl returned home Saturday evening from a several weeks' visit at Minneapolis and the lakes in Minnesota. ENTERTAINED AT iBRIDGE. Mrs. 'George Young was hostess yes terday afternoon to a party of eight friends at her home on Fifth avenue. After a lively game of bridge, lunch eon wag served. LOOKING AFTER LAND. S. A. Nye, of Medford, Ore., arrived in the city the latter part of the week and is looking after his land interests near Litchville. TO VANCOUVER. Mr. and Mrs. R. (H. Home, who have been here managing the Times-Record circulation campaign for the past six weeks, left this morning for Vancou ver, IB. C. OPERATED ON FOR APPENDICITIS. Peter Bekker was brought up from Oriska the latter part of the week and operated on for appendicitis at a local hospital. (He was accompanied by his sister, and is reported as doing nicely GET THE LIMIT. J. J. Eugen and Dr S. A. Zimmer man report fine results from the shooting Saturday. Both brought home the limit in ducks and prairie chickens. FOR MRS. RIDGBWAY. Mrs. W. A. Gordon was hostess this afternoon vat her home on Fifth street, to a group of the close friends of Mrs. Ridgeway. Guests were bidden forthree tables of bridge, and after an interesting game, a delectable lunch eon was served. Mrs. Ridgeway ex pects to leave for her home in 'San Diego, Cal., next week. TO ATTEND CONVENTION. 'Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Craswell expect to leave tomorrow for Denver, Col., to attend the National and International Fire Chiefs convention. Mr. Craswell will be absent about ten days, but Mrs. Craswell will visit a number of weeks with friends in Iowa before her return. STORK VISITS CRANDALtS. Bismarck, N. D., Sept. 9.— Commissioner of Agriculture and Labor Gilbreath was notified this morning that the Norlnern Pa cific will make a special rate of 2 cents per mile in each direction for the round trip from points in North Dakota to Bismarck to the second annual North Dakota In dustrial exposition. SMALL iFIRE. The Are department was called to the residence of Prof. L. B. McMullan this morning to extinguish a blaze started by the overflow of gasoline in the heating pan, which had ignited.
