THE CITY MONDAY'S DAILY MONDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 1915. The county commissioners are in session today and are attending to the Tegular routine of business. Among the commissioners from out of town dho are here for the monthly meeting are R. B. Cox, of Wimbledon Thomas Gudmestad, of Litchville Henry Lee, of Fingal, and Martin Conlon, of Eck elson. Rev. Willard Crosby Lyon, of the Congregational church, was at Fargo yesterday, where he supplied the pul pit in the Presbyterian church. Dur ing his absence Mr. E. P. Qetchell spoke at the morning service in the Congregational church, and Professor Finney, of the State Normal School, spoke at the evening service. Rev Lyon was accompanied to Fargo by his little daughter, Laura, and they re turned home this morning. Mrs. Herman Stern leaves today for Casselton, where she will spend couple of days this week and visit at the M. C. Strauss home. W. E. Bush, who teaches at Daily, •was a Valley City visitor over Sun day and visited at the home of hi? son, Steve Bush. Mr. Perry C. Pederson and daughter Enid left for Valley City Monday to visit Mrs. Pederson, who is confined at the hospital there. They returned yesterday. S. Harrison, of Knox, arrived in Valley City Saturday evening and spent Sunday here with his daughter, Miss Marie, who is a student at the Normal. He is leaving for home to night. Ed Briggs was not feeling exactly right yesterday and was taken to the Riverside hospital last evening, where he is undergoing treatment. His con dition is improved today and no ser ious trouble is anticipated. E. R. Orchard, of Fargo, deputy state bank examiner, returned home Saturday after twelve days spent here checking up the offices of city treas urer and city auditor, which offices it is needless to say he found in excel lent condition. D., was an arrival in the city last even ing. Mr. Berglund came down from Dazey where he attended the Kelly Jacobson wedding last week. He was en route to Fairmount, and left for that place this morning. While in Valley City Mr. Berglund was a guest at the R. H. Bailey home. MONDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 1915. Signs of spring were evidenced this morning, by the display of strawber ries in Stern Brothers window, on Main street. The strawberries were the first in town this season, and were Florida berries, selling for sixty cents a box. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Clark enter tained last evening a group of rela tives at their home on Elmwood ave nue. It was the birthday anniversary of Mr. Clark and following a sump tuous dinner served at half past six o'clock the evening was spent at games and a social time. Those who were present included the members of the D. W. Clark and L. P. Clark fam ilies. J. E. Jones, of the offices of the Mid dlewest Loan & Trust Company, re turned to te city yesterday from point3 in Iowa, where he has been spending the past fortnight or more. Codding, accompanied by Mrs. Codding, were arrivals in Valley City last evening from Hannaford, and will spend Sunday here at the T. L. Codding home, returning to Hannaford on Monday morning.
