vf Yi» N am NDER instructions of the referendum canvassing board of the Nonpartisan league, the Leader pub lishes on this page for the THIRD AND LAST TIME the ballot on which-League members must vote in the matter of a president for the orgiani zation. Unless you vote this ballot now and mail it in AT ONCE, your opportunity to be heard is sacrificed. The referendum board will allow a reasonable length of time for those who have not voted to cut out the ballot printed below and mail it, but that means that you must -cut it out and mail it AT ONCE. The voting closes within a week after you get this copy of the Leader. Counting the length of time your letter containing the ballot is in the mails, you must mark and send this ballot in TODAY if you want to be certain your vote counts. Under no circumstances will the time for voting be extended, and this is the LAST ISSUE of the Leader that will publish the official ballot. This is the third time the ballot has been printed in the Leader with full instructions to members on how to vote. The referendum canvassing board again points l)u± that the success of the referendum depends on as near a unanimous vote of League members as possible. It is important that the League be able to show that practically all,its members voted. The vote will not be decisive otherwise. The League wants its enemies to know that League members are interested enough in League af fairs to vote in an important League referendum concerning League .affairs. League ehemies would be delighted to get a chance to vote on the question of retaining Mr. Townley as president. Are League enemies more interested in its affairs than you In voting read the rules and follow the instructions given. All League members are eligible to vote. It does not matter whether you are in arrears in your dues or not. It does not mat ter whether you have renewed for another two-year period or not. Every member of the Nonpartisan league is entitled to vote, whether his dues are paid to date or not or whether or not he has re-enrolled for another two years. ALL members can vpte and no member should neglect the opportunity. The success of this referendum depends on getting as near a unanimous'expression of League mem bers as possible. The question to be decided by League members is this: "Shall the action of the national committee of the League in electing A. C. C. Townley to another term as president?" If a majority of League members vote "yes," Mr. Townley^ will continue as leader of the organization. If a majority vote "no," it will be necessary for the national committee to select some other leader satisfactory to the members. A majority of ^the League members voting on the question will decide the matter." The ballots will be received" and counted an$ the result an nounced by a committee appointed by the national convention which recently met. This committee consists of Lynn J. Frazier of North Dakota, H. F. Samuels of Idaho, C. A. Lindbergh and David H. Evans of Minnesota and Mark P. Bates of South Dakota. Cut off the lower half of this page, which is the official ballot. Read the ballot carefully. If you desire to vote for A. C. Townley, place a cross, or "X," in the square after the words, "For A. C. Townley for president of the League." If you desire -to vote against A. C. Townley, place a cross, or "X," in the square after the words, "Against A. C. Townley for pr ?sident of the League." Place a cross in only one of the two squares. Then write plainly your name and address on the blanks given on the ballot for the purposes Give your section, township and range. If you can not give section, township and range, fill out the last blank on the ballot with the name or number, or both, of your voting precinct or township. Your name at League headquarters is filed by section, township and range, or by name or number of your voting precinct or" township. After filling out the-ballot, put it in. a sealed envelope and place a 3-cent stamp on the envelope. Address the envelope as follows: Referendum Canvassing Board, National Nonpartisan League, Fifth Floor, Endicott Bldg., St. P^ul, Minn. Do not send your ballot to the Nonpartisan /Leader, or to any state office of the League, or any state paper office of the League. A cross here is a vote for Townley.
