Mention'the Leader When 'Writing Advertisers WROTE THE EDITOR A friend of Cut and Dried sends the following copy of a letter he says he sent to the editor of a daily paper: Dear Sir: From what you said in your edi torial yesterday this fellow Townley must be, a general all-around crook all right. You deserve credit for expos ing him. There are only a few things you haven't accused him of. For in stance: 1. Beating his wife. 2. Sucking eggs. 3. Refusing to pay his honest debts. 4. Agreeing with your editorial policy. Since he has not sunk as low as this yet, there is still hope of reform. I propose the following: Every day, after your paper is printed, he should be bound and gagged and forced to read your editorials. He should be prodded at intervals to prevent him falling asl ep. If, at the end of three weeks of this treatment he has not laughed himself to death, he is a hope less case. FAITHFUL RDADER. "Dirt" farmers were scarce at Wal lace's farm conference, but they won't be scarce at the polls this year. Here's another typical list fund: L. I. Slocum, Nunn, Col Will P. Threw, Cnmro, Neb. Mrs. P. Is your name in the list? Do you want to protest in the most effective way possible against the persecution of Mr. Townley for fighting the farmers' battles? If so, this plan offers you the chance. The Townley trial protest fund gives full value for every cent contributed. Your donations of 50 cents buy actual value to that amount. Send 50 cents with the name of someone not now getting the Leader, and we will send him or her the Leader for four months. This carries the message of your progranC~the fight for the revival of the grain corporation, the facts about Mr. Townley's conviction, Mr. Townley's articles, and all the other important Leader features to new farmers. You want more support for your cause. This is the way to get it, and at the same time make it known how you feel about the Townley trial. This is the kind of protesting that counts. Every one who can spare a half-dollar should come in. Send 50 cents and the name of someone you want to "educate." Be sure to send 50 cents for each name you send. A dollar puts the Leader in the hands of two persons for four months. If you send $1.50 and three names you get a Townley picture for framing free. Use blank below: THE NATIONAL LEADER, BOX 2072, MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. 1^ want to help carry the message of the injustice of Townley's conviction to' others, because I am for free speech and believe that the future of the farmers' cause depends on as many as possible understanding the Townley case. I therefore inclose my check (or money order or currency) to send the Leader .for four m6nths to the name or names indicated. Send 50 cents for EACH PERSON you want to get the Leader. It may be all right to pass the soldiers' bonus, but let congress •, bone the profiteers, and not us, to get the money for it. Ford himself drives a $15,000 Rolls Royce car.
