Edna Peterson came home last Tuesday from Badger where she has been teaching the past year. Quite a number from Kandiyohi attended the Old Settlers picnic at New London last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Sampson of Beck ville visited with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. L. V. Lund last week. Mrs. Anna Nelson and daughters, Edith and Hazel, of Willmar, visit ed relatives here Sunday. Gabrielson and Melander shipped a carload of stock Tuesday. Cards are out announcing the marriage of Miss Emma Gustafson and Mr. Victor Engman. The cere mony will take place on Saturday, June 18, at the Swedish Lutheran church. Nels Anderson has been visiting with relatives in Kansas for some time. The John Gabrielson young folks visited friends in Lake Lillian Sun day. Miss Julia Peterson and sister, Mrs. August Benson, attended the graduation exercises in Atwater last Monday evening G. Croonquist left Friday for his home in Estevan, Canada, after a six months stay with friends and relatives here. The scores were 4 to 5 in favor of Kandiyohi. Mr. and Mrs. L. V. Lund and Hilding Lund spent Sunday with Atwater relatives. Romie Gabrielson ard sister Ella and Myrtle Lind attended the sur prise party given in honor of Rev. Oberg at Willmar last Thursday evening. Arctander, June 13—The Ladies Aid society meeting at Ole Jelle's place last Friday was very well at tended. This was the annual meet ing of the society and Mrs. H. Hauge was re-elected as president for a third term. Miss Mathilda Ramstad, who has had charge of the school in Dist. 17, was compelled to discontinue teaching on account of not being in the best of health. Her sister Emma is teaching the unexpired part of her term. Otto Christopherson, who gradu ated from the commercial and! shorthand—typewriting courses at the Willmar Seminary this year, returned home last week to spend the summer. Hakan Nelson is having an addi tion built to his barn these days. August Lindquist is doing the work. Peter Ytterboe and Hans Hauge are attending the annual meeting of United Lutheran church in Min neapolis this week as delegates rep resenting the East Norway Lake congregation. Miss Lulu Hill of Yellow Medi cine county commenced a term of parochial school in Dist. 56 last Monday. Miss Peterson, teacher in Dist. 23, has arranged for a school pic nic to be given at the school-house next Sunday, June 19. An apron social will be given in the evening. The dredge is making rapid pro gress since the excavation on branch 2 was commenced. A week's work has brougth them up to the ridge between the sloughs near Hauge's place. John Foshager was a Minneapolis visitor last week. Lewis Roisum and Edwin Hauge were among those who took in the Old Settlers' picnic at New London last Thursday. Alfred Ellingson, who has made his home with his sister Mrs. Ed ward Njos in N. D. since last win ter returned home last week. Mrs. Synne Myhre, who has been quite frail for the last few years, passed away at the home of her son, Hans, last Thursday morning. The funeral took place last Saturday, Mrs. Susag of Irving officiating. Justin Georgesnn, Oliver Skinde lien and Sam Henjum enjoyed a trip to Pennock last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Selvold of Day Co., S. D., renewed old aquaintances in this locality last week and viewed their old home which is now the E. H. Hauge place Tbey are on their way to atttend the annual meet ing of the United Lutheran Church which is being held in Minneapolis these days. Quite a few spectators took in the sights at the dredge last Sun day. The Ladies Aid society of the West Lake church will give an auc tion sale in the Ole Stene grove near West Lake on June 24. Miss Hilda Aasen and Mrs. J. B. Jacobson are visiting with relatives and friends in Minneapolis these days. The Olson and Gandrud families of Sunberg and Mr. and Mrs. Clar ence Jelle visited at E. H. Hauge's place Sunday. The Roisum young people enter tained a few of their young friends Sunday. We understand the wedding bells will soon be heard ringing within the bounderies of this township. John Styles Jr. returned from Macalester College last Tuesday evening where he has been attend ing school the past year. He has accepted a position in the round house for the summer. Ed Landberg of Breckenridge re turned last Sunday after a short visit with Willmar relatives. The occasion of his visit was the gradu ation of his brother, Roy Landberg, from the High School. Ed Sather went to Sioux City last Friday where he will take a position as extra gang time-keeper on the Great Northern. Adolph Kiland went the same day to Breck enridge to accept a similar posi tion. Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Fink and children of Wills Point, Texas, passed through Willmar last Friday on their way home. They had been visiting for the past three months with relatives in New London and will stop at points in Nebraska be fore their return to Texas. Norway Lake, June, 12—Paro chial school opened in Dist. 56 last Thursday, with Miss Hill of Irving as teacher. Elmer Stene returned from Ter race, pope County, last week where he has been visiting with friends. The following ministers were present: Rev. N. Frykman, St Paul Rev. Staaf, Dassel Rev. Herman Karlson, Lamson A. W. Carlson, Ellsworth, Wis., Nat. Franklin, State University. John Ostlund came down from Cokato Friday to visit with the 0. Hagman family for a few days. He returned home last Monday.
