Convention at Atwater. The 23rd annual convention of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union of the eighth district held in Atwater last week was largely attended. The sessions were all most helpful and interesting. At the matrons' silver medal contest Thursday evening Mrs. G. E. Oberg of this city won the medal. Her oration was "Woman's Ballot". The following officers were elect ed to have charge of the affairs of the district the coming year: Pres ident Mrs. H. Craswell vice pres ident, Mrs. J. D.Parnell treasurer, Mrs. Celia Rodlun and secretary, Miss Hilda Altman of Atwater. The convention will be held in Wlilmar in 1912. Miss Effie McLaird of Rochester, state secretary of the young peo ple's branch of the W. C. T. U. spoke at the M. E. church Friday evening. Miss McLaird is pos sessed of a winning personality and makes friends for the cause wher ever she goes. Willmar's summer school will open June 26th and continue five weeks with Supt. G. A. Foster of this city, Mr. J.H. Hay of Thief Riv er Falls. Miss Alberta Ackerman of Morris and others, who will be as signed later, as instructors. May 22. 1911. for the grading of Olaf Avenue in said city. The profile of said grading may be seen at the city clerk's office, and all of said work must be done in accordance with the engineer's plans and specifications. Sealed bids will be received bv the city council of the city of Will mar, Minnesota, at the Council Chambers in said city, up to eight (8) o'clock in the afternoon of May 29th, 1911, for the purchase of the sewer bonds of said city of Willmar to the amount of thirty-thousand ($30,000.00) dollars, or as much more as said city may require, but in no event to exceed the amount of fortv thousand dollars ($40.000.00) any excess above thirty-thousand dollars ($30,000.00) to be furnished to such amount and at such times as said city may direct. Said bonds will bear date the 1st day of June, 1911. will be in de nominations of one thousand dollars each, or multiple thereof, will be payable twenty years from the date of issue at the office of the treasurer of the city of Willmar. and will bear interest at not exceeding five per cent per annum, payable semi annually. No bid will be considered at less than their par value and accrued interest. A certified check to the amount of ten per cent of the bid, payable to the city treasurer of the city of Willmar, shall accompany each pro posal. Reasonable time will be granted after the acceptance of any bid to pass upon the validity of said bonds, but any successful bidder failing or neglecting to accept or reject the same within fifteen (15) days after notice of his bid being accceDted by the city council, shall forfeit the certified check accompanying said bid.
