FORMER POSTMASTER OF WILLMAR IS BANQUETED
ALTON CROSBY.
A complimentary dinner was given to Mr. Alton Crosby, retiring post
master, at the Guild Hall last Wednesday evening, by about seventy-five
representative business and professional men of the city. Gov. A. E. Rice
was toastmaster and called on a number of those present to voice the feel
ings of esteem and neighborliness which had prompted the gathering. Mr.
Crosby certainly has reason to feel that his efficient administration of the
postoffice during the past eight years has been appreciated. His response
to the bouquets handed him was easily the best speech made, and he paid
a fine tribute to the assistant postmaster and the force of postoffice clerks.
The climax of the gathering was the presentation to Mr. Crosby of an
electric lamp by Mr. S. B. Qvale on behalf of the gathering. In some re
spects this was a remarkable gathering, not least for the spirit of harmony
and good feeling that it reflected.
