What the country really needs at the present time is less progressing and more arriving The back hair ot a girl with a new engagement ring requires an awful lot of public fixing More energy is wasted in fighting imaginery evils than is expended in combatting real ones. Bad actions are never misrepresent ed, it is only good deeds that are as sailed with falsehood. Everything has been found in the pockets of highwaymen except a copy of the New Testament. It is worth more to the average man to be able to mend a chair than it Iswith to be able to read Greek. Nothing exceeds the terribleness of the first honeymoon quarrel except the sweetness of making it up. An average husband is a jewel a bad husband is a handicap and an extra good one is an awful bore. A small boy does not mind being switched if none of his little chums are near enough to hear him squeal. Some men possess so little nerve that they would get stage fright at their own funeral if they were not dead. A mother seldom listens to what the young man is saying to her daughter she has heard the same old stuff be fore If a young man kisses a girl and tells about it she gets properly vexed but she has no objection to his re peating it. It makes a lot of difference in the success of a man's career whether he burns the midnight oil in a library or in a booze joint. Self-conceit may not be commend able, nevertheless the world never has a good opinion of a man who has a poor opinion of himself. Shakespeare says that every man has seven ages. This may be true but a woman has only two, the age she is and the one she says she is. Genevieve: "How are you getting along in your race with Sue for the favor of young Smithers?" Nell: "Fine, I am one lap ahead." Many a man fondly imagines that a woman is leaning on him for support when she is only pushing him in the direction that she wishes him to travel. Love them that hate you return good for evil pray for them that de spitefully use you, and you will go to heaven in the next world, and to the poor house in this one. A woman thinks a lot more of a man who will make her jump thru a hoop once in a while than she does of the boob who will jump thru a hoop for her every time she points her finger at him. WILL NOT RECOMMEND ANY 8TOCK INVESTMENTS No Investment Securities Guaranteed by "Blue Sky" Board, Says Mr Schultz. To safeguard the inexperienced in vestor in securities offered by anyWeakness agent, even though he may have a li cense, the state "Blue Sky" commis sion announces that it will not rec ommend any investment offered. In this connection the commission has caused to be printed on the li cense issued to all agents the follow ing warning which should be noted by persons, who are asked to invest: "The commission does not recom mend the purchase of securities of fered by this or any other agent." It is believed that this clause on the agent's license will prevent unscrup ulous dealers in stocks or other in vestment securities from attempting to mislead persons into the belief that that particular investment has the approval of the commission. "Every effort is being made to pro tect the investor," said Clifford G. Schultz, Secretary of the commission, "and the commission will be glad to hear of any complaint against agents or others in which they have intimat ed that the commission approves any particular investment." To Willmar Tribune: As I am to be detached as Com manding Officer of the Navy Recruit ing Station at Minneapolis on July 14 in order to take up the duties of Re cruiting Inspector for the Central Div ision, with headquarters at Kansas City, Mo., I wish to thank the editors and citizens of the Northwest for their aid in the campaign for enlist ments we have been conducting since the declaration of war. This district, with a smaller popula tion and the population spread over a much greater territory than many other districts, is second only to the district of New York City in total en listments since April 1st. This suc cess could never have been attained without the loyal and patriotic co-op eration of the newspapers and the readers of the newspapers in the states of Minnesota and North Da kota, On July 14 the command of this Station will be turned over to Ensign O. C. F. Dodge, U. S. Navy, and it is hoped that the business men, school teachers, organizations, and individ uals who have assisted in securing over three thousand of the best men in the Navy from these two states will give the new Recruiting Officer the heavy and loyal support that I have been given. The Navy is still short a large num ber of machinists to man the ships now building. Enlistments at Minne apolis have been restricted, beginning July 16, to twenty-eight men per week, excepting machinists. A trade school for the teaching of various trades will be established at Dun woody Institute in Minneapolis on Au gust 1st. With very best wishes to all those who have contributed to the success of the recruiting campaign in this dis trict, and hoping that I may meet you all personally at seme time in the fut ure, I am, Yours very truly, JAMES D. WILLSON, Lieut. Commander, U. S. Navy. FEEL UKEJIVING UP Many Willmar People on the Verge of Collapse. A bad back makes you miserable all the time— Lame every morning sore all day.
