Metzinger returned Monday afternoon from New York where he has been for the purpose of adding to his line of spring and summer goods and to make a personal selection of the early fall styles. On his way home Mr. Metzinger made a trip to Washington, D. C. where he was a witness of the Inaugural ceremonies. Justice N. Henningsen had a case of drunkenness to dispose of last week. The offender was O. B. Kelson and when he was found by the police he had Imbibed so freely of the flowing bowl that all sense of time and place had left bis befuddled brain. He was completely paralyzed and needed several hours rest and quiet to bring him oat of it. He was Sued $5 and costs, the fine being suspended, and Kelson discharged after paying the •5 20 costs. Mrs. E. T. Critchett of Minneapolis will give a house party Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week for some of her New Ulm friends. Mrs. B. Krook, Mrs. J. H. Siegel, Mrs. H. Bepcber and Mrs. Cbas. Vogtel will be among the guests as will Mrs. A. O Eberbart and Mrs. J. J. Schindle, of St. Paul, sister of Mrs. Siegel. One of the events of the house party will be a bridge luncheon which will be given for sixteen ladies Thursday. Mr and Mrs. F. H. Retzlaff will leave Fi id ay for a trip to Florida. Mr Retzlaff will attend the National Hardware Men's Association which meets at Jacksonville, Florida, and will go on various trips over the state, one of them having Tampa as its objective point. He looks well and is now rapidly re covering his power of speech and it will be only a short time now when he will be himself again. Bass Drummer Henry J. Stelljes is justly proud of the new bass drum which was recently bought by the Second Regiment for $35 through the Pioneer Drug Store Music Agency. It is certainly a fine instrument. He will use it for the first time at the annual concert which will be held at Turner Hall Sunday evening March 30th.
