ORDINANCE NUMBER 10 'I An Ordinance To Prescribe The Duties Of The Recorder Of The City Of Prescott, Nevada County, Ark a n s a s: He It Ordained By The Mayor And Board of Alderman of The City Of Prescott, Nevada County, Arkansas:— Sec. 1. That in addition to the dutit s j of the Recorder required by the Gene ral Incorporation act and other laws of the State of A ;ausas, it shall be the duty of the Recorder :o draw all war rants uoon the Treasurer of said City (specifying for what the same are is sued, to whom issued, and when), di recting said treasurer to pay the pcr son or persons therein named whatever sum or sums may have been allowed such person or persons by the Council. The Recorder shall keep a booin which he snail make an accurate ^ de scription of every warrant drawn by him upon the Treasurer, specifying the i amount of the warrant, to whom is sued and number id' the warrant. 'HI It shad be the duty of the Recorder to make a report to the .Mayor and Board of Aldermen, in writing, at the first meeting of the_Mayor_ and Board ofTAldermen~ of each .fiscal quarter of the City, stating the amount of license issued, to whom and for what purposes, and said report shall be read in open’meeting of the Mayor and Board ...of ^Aldermen and filed in the office of the recorder, to be by him kept, subject to public in spection at all reasonable times. Sec. 3. It shall be'the duty rof £the Recorder to record all ^ordinances or by-laws at length, in a book to be kept by him for that purpose, as soon after their passage as may be, and he shall authenticate said ordinances with his signature appended thereto just beneath the signature of the Mayor or presiding officer of the Board of Alder- i men, and he shall receive as compensa tion for the recording of said ^ordinan ces a fee of ten cents for every one hundred words. The recorder shall have access to the | seal of said City, and he shall affix the same to all certificates and other pa pers made and issued.by him in.tVib of- : ficial capacity as Recorder. The recorder shall be re-elected |by qualified voters on the first Tuesday of April every two years as provided by ordinance of March 29th, 190b, and shall in addition to taking the oath of office as required by law, before enter ing U|>on the discharge of his duties, give bond with good and sufficient sure ty or sureties, to be approved by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen, pay able to the State Arkansas, in the sum of Two hundred and fifty dollars, for the faithful discharge of his duties as recorder and for preservation of all records and papers committed to his care and keeping; And in the event of his failing to give such bondjwithin ten days after he has been required to do so, the Mayor and Board of Aldermen may declare said office vacant and pro 1 ceed to an election to fill said vacancy, who shall hold the office till the next general election, and until his successor is elected and qualified. Sec 1 Hereafter the Recorder shall receive the sum of Ten Dollars per month as hi* salary, i 1 addition to the fees allowed him by ordinances. Passed this the 21st day of Septem ber 1909. Approved R. The ministers spoke of it as a pandering to a gross social evil and as a rank dis courtesy to the distinguished guest whose’tastes and. eonvic tions. if consulted, would be op posed to.the use of stimulants at the banquet board. The Pastors’ Association has not yet received from the com mittee on banquet arrangements a reply to their protest against the appearance of wine on the menu.
