We call upon the Democracy of the Seventh Congressional District, embracing the counties of Chicot, Ashley, Bradley, Cal houn, Ouachita, Union, Layfay ette, Columbia, Hempstead, ; Clark and Nevada, to turn out to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 8, and support the democratic can didate, Mr. W. S. Goodwin, of Bradley county. The November election will be one of the most important held in the country for the past twenty yeais and never has the i outlook been brighter for demc- j cratic triumph. The republican ; parly throughout the country is divided, and, as democrats have predicted for a quarter of a cen tury, the republicans have fallen I out among themselves over the greatest of 'all questions that has ever confronted any people i he question of taxation, or, as commonly known in this coun try, the tariff question. The great West is republican only in name. It is democratic in senti ment and truth. Such stalwart republicans as Cummins. Clapp, LaFollette, Beveridge, Bristow and many others are in open re volt against the Taft administra tion ar.d the leadership of such men as Aldrich and Cannon and (he high priests of protection generally. Not only in the hahs of Congress, but upon the hust ling dozens of men who helped to make the republican party have denounced it in the most unqualified terms and are a unit with the democrats in the re forms of the day. Democracy has ever stood against the en croachments of the rights of the people as made by the tariff barons and the exceeding high c >-4 of living of recent years in an evidence of the truth of demo cratic predictions for the past ci :at ter of a century. The republicans promised to lower the tariff, but the Payno Aldrich bill revised it upward j and still they arc claiming recog nition before an outraged people. Ever voter remembers how the democrats whipped the republicans to a standstill in the State of Maine in the September election, electing a democratic Governor, two Congressmen out of four, and came within a few votes of electing all four Con gressmen, and with a Legisla ture overwhelmingly Democratic which will send to the next Senate a democrat to take the place of Eugene Hale, one of the bosses of the republican Senate for the past thirty years and a standpatter of the tirst water. Over sixty years have passed since Maine had gone democratic before. The outlook is that the i'emo cratics will not only control the next Congress, but that New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Ohio will elect de nocratic Governors at the November election. The democrats every where are united except in Ten nessee and under the leadership of Bob Taylor the old Volunte r State is likely to get in line, and then Democracy will present a solid front for the great presi dential campaign of 1912 when • . • 1 1*1, 1» • .1 .A? II IX IlUpt'U Li IH L IIICUU U I the people will occupy the White House, backed up by a demo cratic House and Senate. We presume the people are familiar with Mr. Goodwin's enthusiasm for the upbuilding of the county in the way of Federal aid to the States in the establish ment of Agricultural schools, the improvement of our public roads with Federal aid, the drainage of swamp and overflowed lands, as well as the improvement of our rivers. We apprehend the people likewise are familiar with Mr. Goodwin’s record in the Slate Senate in behalf of iabo: legislation as well as his ( bill for the cn’argement of the powers of the Railroad Commis sion which hrw- resulted in a sav ing to the shippers and consumers of the State of over $1(0,000 a year, as well as his legislative record in a general way in be half of the people. . So we urge upon every man who went in the primary to go! out to the polls on Tuesday, No vember 8th.and cast his vote for Mr. Goodwin. Urge your neigh bors to go. It has been impos sible for Mr. Goodwin to get over the District since the prim-' ary election owing to prolonged uneisin ms iamily. He him self has been away from home with his family, and while he has returned to take up the cam paign his family is still away, and for that reason he has not been able to meet the people of the District as he otherwise would have done. The republicans have nominat ed a candidate and for this reason the democrats cannot alford to al low the election to go by default. Let us make tho majority over whelming, and to do so every democrat should go to ti e polls on Tuesday, November 8th, M. W. Greeson. Chai:man Dem., Cong., Cor., 7th, District.
