GO BACK ABO DO IT Yesterday morning an old beg garly looking man|was standing beside the stairway that led to an elevated railroad station, seem ingly bewildered. I was in a hurry and did not ask him where he wanted to go. Why didn't 1 go back and do it? A workman did me a kindness the other day. He promised to! hail a milk-man and tell -him to stop at mv house. He remem bered it and did so. but the next evening when I metlhim I forgot to thank him. Why didn’t I go back and do it? My mother uselto take great pains to think of lovely little sur prises for me, and I used to take them as a matter of course. I see nowr how happy 1 she could have been if I had ever thanked her. It is too late for me now to go back and doit. I had a schoolmaster in a coun try school who fitted me for a college more thoroughly than many a boy is fitted in a larger and more famous schtol. Often when I was in college l had good] reason to thank him for his pa tience with me, bat I never did. And it is now too late for me to go back and do it. My chum did more for me than anybody else when I was a stu dent. lie was so honest and genuine and 8: nsible, and so full « i fine, manly purposes, and I was so much younger than heand needed him so much. Everyday of my life l am thankful for him and I often tell others what he v.d for me, out I never told him. And s >w it is too late for me to go !> iv>. and do it. T morrow somebody else will do lac a kindness. I shall be hurried and forgetful, but pi r* haps the memory of some kind ness done by those of the past may make me willing to pass them on to those who are to come. And even if I hurry by, and feel and feel timid about opening my heart bv saying an appreciative work, still I can go back and do it. Tomorrow somebody else wave a hand to me or speak friendly friendly about the weather in passing. Perhaps I shall remem ber that I shall not forever walk this friendly road and that th' numbers who wave to me is no unlimited. Even if I have pass ed them by witiiout giving a sigi of brotherhood, perhaps becaust they are poor or humble, or be , cause I myself am shy, still I cai go back and do it. I have yet some friends wh< mean most to me than any friend I have ever had. They are dost to me, and some of them are if. the house where .1 live. I shud der to think that I might die or they might die before I have said to them all that is in my heart. I haven't done it vet. but thank God, I can still go back and do it. -William Bryon Forbush, Ph. B CRYINC FOR HELP, Lots of it in Prescott But Dail) Growing Less.
