ELLSWORTH, At a meeting of the Womar s Missionary Society of the First Presbyterian Church, Prescott, Arkansas, held on Monday, Dec ember 17, the following resolu tions were adopted: Since our last meeting it has pleased Cod, in His wisdom, to call to higher service, our be loved friend and president, Mrs. Ellsworth. Her loss is deeply felt by the members of the Society; she was ever ready with willing hands and generous heart, to do even more than her duty in the work. She was president for several years, and fulfilled the duties of that office, with her usual inter est and zeai. We would express our grati tude to God, for the inspiration of her Christian life, for the wonderful example of her un tiring zeal in the service of the Master. She was faithful in all the re lations of life, to the community in which she lived, to her Church her family, and friends. Few have been more faithful in the discharge of duty, or responded more willingly to it’s many calls. Loyalty characterized her church work, and faithfulness was her watchword. Whereas we would show our love and appreciation of her worth, be it resolved First—That while her vacant place tills our hearts with sad ness, we humbly submit to the will of God, who doeth all things well. Second—That we mourn the loss of her sympathetic, stimula ting presence among us; may God help us to press forwaro with renewed energy, in 'he work she loved with her whole heart. Third—We extend to the be reaved family our tender am. sincere sympathy, and common* them to the care of the Fathei i of mercies, and the God of a I ! comfort. Fourth—That a copy of thes resolutions be sent to the famii\ the town papers, the Christia Observer, and. that they b entered upon the minutes of :> Society, and a page be inscribe*. I tj her memory. S. Brewing Association have se cured the privilege of wasting millions and millions of bushels of grain in the making of beer. So that they can continue this practice, the housewives are asked to save bread crumbs, go without wheat one day in each week and cut down the sugar for the Kiddies. Let the babies go without sugar, for the brewers need it. Scientists tell us that sugar gives the body energy and warmth, and the children need it. The Germans were quick to realize this when they cut down the production of beer and increased the amount of sugar for each soldier, at the beginning of tbe w’ar. Let us ask a question: What ;s the use of wasting grain for the matting ot alcohol for muni tint; purposes when there is a.ready ■ n hand t norrnous quantities ot whiskey wide: ouid, at a trifling c >3t, be con | vei tt d into alcohol?
